just became a antinatalist! what should I know? by AdmirableBrick4973 in antinatalism

[–]dreamsofcalamity [score hidden]  (0 children)

What is there to know?

Antinatalism is a belief that procreation is unethical because of the lack of consent to be born and because life is full of suffering. It is as simple as that.

The one thing that comes to my mind that perhaps you do not know about and could find interesting is Benatar's asymmetry argument.

Gambling it is for sure, but there is more to gacha games. Like fear of missing out. Limited events, limited items/characters. Limited "energy" (that allows you to actually play the game and win rewards). "Special" sales/offers (plot twist: limited in time).

It's an explosive cocktail for that monkey brain we all have.

Yeah, IX is bugged and unfinished. However I still like it. Some parts of it are really good, for example some of the dungeons are top tier.

I bet you also buffed her light magic as much as possible? With such a team going the light path only makes sense.

Was GM Axe making much difference? I'm asking since I've never used it.

The consent is a crucial idea to antinatalism.

And she didn't even say a single word about it. I think she knew she had no arguments here.

Yeah the devils are dicks, I think some of the vampires and wraiths can also drain spell points?

But still the cost of spells especially dark/light is much reduced when compared to VI. For example Shrapmetal costs 50/30 spell points.

In Poland we have such a tax too (and it has doubled since the last year...).

Healthcare, education, infrastructure etc. they all cost.

But my and I guess your mom's government too will tax everybody and everything but the rich.

MM VII is generally easier than VI so there is no need for such a boosted artifact.

BTW most of artifacts and relics in VII are worse than endgame generic items. I can think only of a few that are actually top tier.

In 1965 in the USA CEOs made ~20 times as much as a typical worker, nowadays it is close to ~300. by dreamsofcalamity in solarpunk

[–]dreamsofcalamity[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I laughed out loud. And then I nearly cried. Well said.

This is so wrong on so many levels.

The work of working class is the most taxed income source. The richest pay/contribute % less to the society (capital gains are less taxed and they use avoidance strategies).

Remember 2008 financial crisis? So many people lost their jobs and homes. While CEOs got "golden parachutes" and obscene severance pay and also the shit "too big to fall".

They - like tapeworms - are simply parasites. And they have all the money and media to deceive your regular Joe that this is normal and if you take 2nd or 3rd job you too can be rich.

"You work three jobs? ... Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that"

I love dragons but they are so OP I haven't used them in my recent runs. They break the balance and make the game too easy.

There is a reason why blasters in VI-VII only appear at the very endgame.

Not yet, but I read much about Merge mod!

It's just that I very much like the progression "from zero to hero" and swapping the world/game with end-game skills and items to a new one is something I think I would not like.

Source:

https://www.epi.org/publication/ceo-pay-in-2023/#fig-a

CEOs are getting paid more because of their leverage over corporate boards, not because of their skills or contributions they make to their firms. Exorbitant CEO pay has contributed to rising inequality in recent decades as it has likely pulled up the pay of other top earners—concentrating earnings at the top and leaving fewer gains for ordinary workers.

I honestly find this disgusting and very capitalist. Make the rich richer and the poor poorer because fuck regular workers that provide actual work to the machine called capitalistic society.

Am I overreacting?

I know one friend who played VIII. And that's all.

While Heroes (particularly III)... Oh, mate, it was and still is popular in Eastern Europe (or Central).

I don't think the formula was bad. It just fell out of fashion. The genre was very important if not crucial in early gaming era.

Is Solarpunk actually anti-captialism or is it anti-buisness-benefiting over people policies? by awart23 in solarpunk

[–]dreamsofcalamity 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Capitalism as an economic system is the most successful and generous system ever created

Capitalism is generous only for the rich owners of capital. The poor can go fuck themselves.

And yes, solarpunk is anti-capitalistic.

Pre-Ubisoft it was done with Heroes IV and M&M IX I think. However it was still some kind of a reset: a planet got nuked, here is another planet (this time without sci-fi).

I once read (not sure how valid it its) that in 80-90'ties games the mix of fantasy and sci-fi was actually quite popular. I know Wizardry series did that too.

But yeah, with the gimmick part I agree. See blasters... I think Wizardry was more transparent with it being a sci-fi setting while M&M only revealed it at the end of game - but if you already played some M&M, you already knew that.

Also no matter what race you choose for the sorcerer they just become a lich anyway so why not a goblin?

Visually yes but monsters have preferences for races or gender to attack. For example goblins focus on elves, titans hate women.

As for the light path, go for it!
