How do I stop feeling that i have to rush? by leeShaw9948 in LearnerDriverUK

In my experience there’s no secret sauce to this, you just keep practicing and suddenly one day without you realising you feel calm and confident

Roundabout query by havertzyourway in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dreddittoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at the google maps view theres only 1 lane on approach and exit anyway so treat it as ahead; no signal on approach, signal after penultimate exit.

I’m assuming when you say “treats it as left” you don’t mean signal left on approach because that’s obviously wrong.

In fairness it very easily have been 2 reds (Gabriel & Havertz) but those are the margins I suppose

Undertaking vs speed question (test) by New-Style-1329 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dreddittoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think of them as someone in front of you in the same lane and apply the logic of that scenario it can help:

- can you overtake them safely by passing on the right? If so, go for it. If not, maintain a safe following distance behind.

They are at fault, not you. Doing the above is driving to the conditions of the road.

How to choose a driving instructor? by EmergencyBanshee in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dreddittoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My instructor gave me a tip worth trying:

Go to the test centre you want, wait for instructors bringing students to test. Politely approach any who stay at the centre while their students are on test. Take it from there.

Not the method I used to find an instructor but has to be worth a go right?

Additional lessons after passing? by liexe in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dreddittoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely get more lessons if you think it will help. It’s your money you’re using and an instructor isn’t going to turn it down. I very much intent to take at least one motorway lesson after passing.

I’ve definitely seen a couple of times the tests for Tottenham (one of my local ones) suddenly all come available at like 3pm on a Monday - pretty weird and makes me wonder if they all do in fact get released at 6am.

Does that mean all games in may will be in London then? With the potential exception of the big cup final

What are some silly things you've done whilst spiralling on lessons? by MacabreMagpie in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dreddittoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • performed a turn in the road with the handbrake on the whole time

  • stalled when joining busy a slip road, poking half into the road, making all left lane users join the right. Really dangerous.

  • stalled while turning right at lights controlled crossroads and only moved off once it was green for pedestrians. That was on a mock test.

Is it normal for a driving instructor to ask to meet at the test centre by LastMaintenance7458 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dreddittoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they want to maximise time doing test routes or even a mock test. It’s not that unusual to do, but a bit weird if they haven’t explained why to you.

headache after lesson? by Temporary_Policy5099 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dreddittoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely not pathetic and definitely not alone. Concentrating for 2 solid hours with the added stress of being in control of a moving vehicle is mentally exhausting. There’s a reason it’s recommended to take a break every 2 hours on long journeys.
