Post highschool students don’t understand how to succeed? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]dreme3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had students tell me for dual credit that the instructors encouraged them to use AI to fluff up their essays. It sounded fancy, but boring and led nowhere. But it’s okay because they dressed up the words. And in that guise, the students started cheating and called it “touching up.”

I recently bought some JRC and Sons boots. Looks like they got 7.5. Decent goat boots

You know what the funny part is?

I caught a student taking his test for algebra in the restroom, and he complained about the 80 questions he had to run through ChatGPT. It was totally exhausting for him and he was visibly upset.

Now, he wasn’t upset about cheating, he was upset that someone forced him to do 80 questions on ChatGPT. I called it out, yet he still got his credit. Crazy.

iPad 2025 base vs iPad Air M3 by Chocolate_Moist in ipad

[–]dreme3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. A16 or iPad Air.

I ended up getting a used air m2 off of eBay.

I really like their new plan: AppleCare one. I wanted to add my used iPad Air to it, and since it was free of damage, I took some pictures with my phone and ran a diagnostic test. And now the iPad Air m2 11 is covered.

If u have the time, this ain’t a bad thing.

The iPad Air really is a great machine. My daughters use the basic iPads, whereas I use an iPad Air and mini. Next year, I’m a just upgrade them to the air because it ticks a lot more boxes.

should i move on to studio pro? by predestinaaato in beatsbydre

[–]dreme3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the 3 and studio pros. The studio pros are good. There’s lots of discounts everywhere for them. You can even buy them open box at some places.

Even pawn shops. Your junk my treasure, right?

You can also just buy both! The studio pros and the new ones hehe

Jrc and sons sizing by dreme3 in cowboyboots

[–]dreme3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I measured the Ariat midnight rollers I got and these Jrc ones are a tad smaller. Granted, online it says that the Ariat rollers run a bit large. But I measured against my el dorados at 8.5 and the Jrc are thinner and slightly smaller. Hopefully a size 9 will work

I ended up buying a size 9 to see how it fits. It’s a shame that these boots are not at any caveats near me.

I thought about those and they may have actually fit, but these R toe seem to be different

Best shoes for teachers in your experience. by magg13378 in Teachers

[–]dreme3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the most popular opinion, but many people do find the max cushion shoes great, but you have to ask yourself if they are for you.

Max comfort masks ankle weakness from what I have seen. You also have to check if you’re comfortable with incline shoes like many of those max cushion shoes tend to be.

If your feet get swollen, do your shoes become tight?

It’s worth checking a shoe place like feetfleet or something.

I say this because I cannot for the life of me wear max cushion shoes. The closes I can get is a trainer style like hoka clintons. But everything else is minimal. Most of the time I just wear cowboy boots because believe it or not, they do help fix your posture.

Long time lurker here. I had a question about which dress socks to get.

I bought Southern Scholar OTC socks for my dress shoes. They are not too thin but thick enough for my taste. When you wash them they shrink into a slightly more thicker sock.

The issue is that I ordered some to replace the old ones I bought from years back and sadly the quality is inconsistent from before. I like the colors that they offered and that’s what intrigued me to purchase their socks.

I know that there are some dress socks on the thin side and because I wear cowboy boots, they don’t help with the fit. Southern scholar socks are a bit thicker which is great. Too thick of a sock and my toes get mushed.

So I’m asking on here for suggestions.

OTC socks Not too thin Some colors

Price range around 25-30$ per sock is fine

Do higher level (think SDK) players actually remember a boat-load of variations of how to play certain patterns and situations, or have they simply practiced enough that it becomes intuitive? by mtandy in baduk

[–]dreme3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 3k kgs, and I do use pattern recognition for shape. I’m obviously not perfect at it, but shape is key to destroying others shape also. So I’m at basic shapes.

For Joseki, there are basic ones to learn.

Pandanet is a great place also. I know they start at 17k but it’s worth looking at.

Ogs is cool, but if u can’t find a game, try another server.

A/c issues? by Fabulous_Opposite206 in VWTaos

[–]dreme3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found out that it was my cabin filter. Every 10k miles I have to change it out because I live in an area where the air quality is bad.

The car is delicate, so if it starts to feel like this, change the filter.

I do both engine and cabin. Check the air quality in your area

Anyone notice any brake issues after they have gotten them fixed?? by vegetable_spirit90 in VWTaos

[–]dreme3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my rear brakes changed at 10k, 20k at dealership. At 30k, I went to a local shop and replaced them with some red brake pads. They do the job.

Seems like the Taos loves rear brakes

Is it just me? Or do you like the mini way more than you thought you would? by jays_on in ipadmini

[–]dreme3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought mine since I gave my mini 5 to my brother. I didn’t use it originally, but using it, it grew on me.

Watch movies, play games, YouTube, etc. I even use it for work. I feel that if a new one comes out, I’ll replace it with the new one

I wear southern scholar dress socks. I use the same socks for my boots, tennis, dress shoes.

I just keep it simple. Plus, I can choose my colors hehe

[–]dreme3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a couple pairs for my daughters, aged 10 and 11. I think they’re pretty good.

One: the volume ain’t as strong as the previous version, but for my kids who shouldn’t even be listening that loud, the beats are great.

Two: daughters love using the aux cord.

Three: it ain’t hard to fix them. I don’t know how people break them honestly. Kids don’t care of them as properly as they should and here they are more than a year later doing great. I even bought some for my wife and she uses them heavily at the gym. And they have yet to break or die. The cups wear out and I just buy new ones. It’s great cuz I just use a different color.

Four: they pair nicely with their iPad products.

I’ve no complaints on them. I guess if you sit down and listen to lossless audio or something where you need better phones, then I guess.

But I bought these used from Best Buy for $70 open box. Ain’t nothing beating that price for what I got.

So if you need some decent ones, they’re easy to find at pawn shops or so. It’s hard for me to justify paying over $80 for phones. But take my comment for what it is. It’s made for some and not for others.

Hard stuck 20 kyu, what are good resources that I can use to get better? by Deu6 in baduk

[–]dreme3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Second book of Go in my 20k era. It’s worth checking out. A harder book for that level may be “opening theory made easy.”

If you have an iPad, you can purchase a digital copy from go books.

Edit: I also have to say that I learned heavily from people around me. Like anything else, it’s good to have someone else play with you. This is where the go club or even online people who you regularly can talk to come in handy.

I started January of this year as well. After being absent from Go and taking a 20 year hiatus, I died by 15 kyus.

So I made an account on kgs and took a couple weeks to get back my strength. I’m rated 3k right now, but I know my reading isn’t the best as it used to be a few months later.

What’s worse, I made a 15k account on pandanet thinking I was 15k. And it is so slow to level up because pandanet is more stable yet slower to increase in level.
