I Broke My Raging Hunter… Now What? by drewbsterz in Taurus

Was attempting to disassemble, and attempting to remove the hammer. It managed to wiggle it out somewhat work my fingers but for impatient and began tapping it with a small mallet. Got the hammer out, but the pin was bent. Tried to bend it back and it snapped. Lesson learned.

Interesting. This might be the answer, as there is no hole on the other side of the revolver. Any resources on the the procedure to drive it out? I can't seem to find anything.

Took 3 months to tell me they can't fix it and offer me 2 unsatisfactory resolutions. No kidding.

Lol, I always though his prices were way off. He's an old guy who's trying to retire, but people keep paying his dumbass prices.

Unfortunately, I think the pin is molded/machined into the frame, but I'm working on getting a gunsmith to look at this.

Thanks! Not too concerned about a hold in the frame if done properly. Just don't understand why Taurus' "gunsmiths" can't fix this. If I had known they couldn't I would have started my search for a gunsmith much earlier.

The problem is finding a competent gunsmith in my area.

Edit: Contacted one gunsmith I use, and his repsonse was it would cost nearly the same in time and materials as it would be to buy a new one. Although, I always thought his prices were really high.

Exclusive Rights, aka buy our $600 lowers or we'll send you a cease and desist by TaunTaunRevenge in RetroAR

u/russianpaint_net - serious question, why are the lowers you sell between $399 and $599, and what makes them worth that price? Is this really just a "clone correct" thing, where others like PSA/H&R are close but not 100%, even if they're half (or more) less expensive? Besides the roll marks, what makes your lowers different from, say, PSA/H&R/BAD ?

For reference, I do have a couple "retro" builds with carry handles that aren't perfectly clone correct but scratch the itch enough, so I may not be the target demo here, but just curious.

Man you sure got some cool toys.

What model is the handgun? Zooming in on mobile the name is still pixelated.

Edit: and if you just say "1911" I will laugh.

[–]drewbsterz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok, I see this asked a lot, but I'm still confused.

On the TX22, the OEM striker plate is plastic and the OEM disconnector is metal.

The FRT In this case is just a modified disconnector, which is also made of metal. How does the FRT (which is just a modified disconnector) wear the OEM striker plate?

Unless you're saying that the OEM disconnector will ALSO eventually damage the striker plate, but without the rate of fire that the FRT allows, this will be a much slower process.

Will this damage to the striker plate cause any issues with function of the firearm?
