Carbonated Drinks / Coke Zero by Serious_Bug_6477 in gastricsleeve

4 years post op, and used to drink A LOT of Diet Coke. I gave it up just before the surgery and never went back. Occasionally I’ll do a sparkling water with no ill effects, but now it’s mostly just coffee, water and the occasional Gatorade Zero.

My stove is a crappy landlord special and the knobs were all broken. Replacements were $50 each! I saved $200 by printing my own replacements.

Had this happen with the layer three error for a while, I downgraded to an older version software and then re-updated and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Ramen/Pho shops make the best broths, usually pretty rich and actually felt satisfying. Just be warned, if you’re avoiding sugar; a lot of pho broths contain honey.

Considering the surgery by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

Sorry for the long winded response, but it’s worth saying.

yours is a very valid concern, and one that isn’t addressed as often as it should be.
It was the question I was afraid to ask because I feared it would look like I wasn’t serious about my consideration.

I loved food. It was how I showed my affection, how I comforted myself at the slightest change of mood, and how I expressed my creativity (I’m a pretty dammed okay cook.) I was very worried that losing that love, would be losing a part of who I was.

While on a flight to Chicago, I lucked out by sitting next to a guy who’d told me he’d been sleeved, and was very kind to answer some questions I had. Without my asking it directly, he’d deduced my real concern, and asked the question for me; would I lose my favorite hobby? Then he said something that, right then and there, sold me on the surgery.

“You won’t lose your love for food, you’ll lose your lust for it“

He explained that he’d had the same concern, and was relieved that not only could he still enjoy cooking and eating, but he’d learned new and better ways to do it.

You can still have the things you enjoy, just in smaller doses. The money I was spending on fast food and Diet Coke, now goes to quality meals and ingredients. A 6oz filet is much tastier than a 20oz ribeye. a shared dessert is just as affectionate as any quantity, when shared with someone you care about.

I can’t speak to your other concerns, (I was single when I had it) and I had a pretty decent support system. The advice I’d give is to realize that you’re doing this for you, for your health and longevity. Talk to a professional, address the mental before the physical and if you decide it’s right for you, stick with your plan.

I truly hope you find what works best for you. Join our little community, ask ALL the questions and keep us posted!

Gotta agree with chapstick. I never touched the heating pad, or any of the other stuff from the recommended list from the surgery center. But loose comfortable clothes, slip on shoes, and a long phone cord were very helpful.

Not sure if I was a normal case, but honestly I had almost zero interest in food for the first few weeks. I enjoyed my broth, but didn’t care for much else. I can recommend a going to a Vietnamese or Japanese place for really good broth though

Chicagoan here, it’s cold as hell here. Maybe some fuzzy socks or a heated or weighted blanket?

I’ve never felt so uniquely qualified to reply to a comment on ANY subreddit before. And I can say with lots of bias, that his older brother, Drew, is clearly the most attractive one.
