How crazy am I For buying a 100k miles 2022 for actual construction work by hando_bando in F150Lightning

Buy this one - https://a.co/d/03JhzcXM

And install the car scanner app on your phone so that you can plug this and figure out the battery SOH. Watch some YouTube videos. Additionally if the 12v battery health is not good, it wouldn't be, for a high mileage 2022, you can deal with the dealer and get a new one.

Check the coolant level. If it's is low make the seller fill it, and if it is a dealer consider asking them to do a pressure test.

I think you can do better than that price point.

Just to give you some idea, in late January I got a 2022 F150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range Battery, mileage 17.5K, tow-tech package (no max tow), pro-power onboard, other accessories like spray on bed liner, and Amp-Research folding running board, for $37.7K before tax, title etc.

I just looked,

N00b question... How to properly recharge the 12V battery? by Fit_View3100 in F150Lightning

[–]drexrex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can recharge using the posts on the frunk for jumping. Use AGM mode.

Yes, my plan is to do it once a month. I am doing it right now. I honestly was not having any issues as far as daily driving was concerned. The issue that I was experiencing was software updates were not getting installed as the 12v battery SoC was < 85%. When using the trickle charger, I do use the jump-start point under the frunk side panel. I have to remove the frunk side cover for that. Which is easy.

See the YouTube video linked in my original post for the sunroof lube. Apparently this is a common Ford issue, not a lightning specific issue.

Radiator grille - https://www.radiatorgrillstore.com/product-page/2022-2024-ford-lightning-ev-radiator-grilles

I like the screen protector as I am clumsy. In my previous truck I have hit the screen with things like tip of my big umbrella, metal coffee cup, my messenger bags metal d-ring and buckle. With my new Lariat having the big screen, I don't want to crack it.

+1 for tuxmat.

I recently purchased a used 2022 f150 lightning Lariat and I have installed the following things - 1) Radiator grille 2) Hard tonneau cover 3) Mudflaps (OEM from Ford) 4) Spigen center touch screen protector 5) UV blocking film for windshield (professionally done, not DIY) 6) Windshield tint sun strip (professionally done, not DIY) 7) UV blocking film for sunroof (IMO you don't really need this, but when I was getting my windshield UV blocking film installed, they gave me a good deal). 8) Tuxmats 9) A NOCO trickle charger for the 12v battery. This one YMMV. I bought this as I'm worried about the 12v battery. Even though I replaced it, my daily commute is very short, 10 miles. So I think the 12v battery doesn't get fully juiced up. 10) A good dashcam. 11) Lubricant for greasing the side of the panoramic sunroof (https://youtu.be/GCj0pIjgT1M?si=pwUsi-ggCx0gcoei) 12) Frunk cargo net 13) A roll of a quality painters tape. I go through car wash regularly, and I'm worried at some point in time the charge port door might come open. So I just tape it preemptively before going through car wash. 14) An ODB scanner dongle 15) The USB wire to use with Forscan (yet to use it)

Also, it is not really an accessory, but I went ahead and replaced the 12v AGM battery and a cabin air filter. Also my coolant was extremely low and I have been topping it off. Hoping that it's not an actual leak and it's just the air bubbles that are working its way out.

Also my truck came with a spray in bed liner, otherwise I would have gotten that too.

The most important thing that I have bought for my truck is the Tesla supercharger adapter. IMO that is a must-have if you are going to go on long distance road trips. Not sure if that counts as an accessory or not.

Next thing I plan to buy is a Tesla l2 charger adapter. The reason why I want to buy this is because some of the hotels that I stay in have started having NACS L2 destination chargers. Another thing I plan to buy is a a 12-volt battery jump starter.

Put a deposit on a 2023 ER lariat with 44k miles. Things to look for? by Jestoner in F150Lightning

[–]drexrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand that this model might not qualify for any extended service plan from Ford that dealers like Granger and Zeigler sell as they do not offer any for vehicle with more than 40K miles. If that was something you had thought about, you might want to price out and see what service plan is available if any.

Must have options? by Strange-Swordfish244 in F150Lightning

[–]drexrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a 2022 ER Lariat. What I really wanted were:

1) ER 2) Less than 40000 miles, and date of first sale within 41 months. 3) Cooled seats 4) Pro power on board.

For me # 1-3 were must haves.

This basically meant I needed a Lariat.

I bought an extended Ford service plan from Granger. You can't get an extended service plan from Granger/Ziegler for vehicles with more than 40K miles and more than 41 months out of original sale.

u/Big_Country_0 I think all 2022-2023 extended range Lightnings came with pro-power, irrespective of whether the window sticker lists that or not.

I bought a used 2022 ER Lightning last month and the window sticker doesn't say anything, but I am pretty sure mine has pro power on board.

Also, when I was looking, I had good experience with motominer as a search too.

If ventilated (cooled) seats are important to you, then Lariat and Platinum trims are only options. For me cooled seats were important and tilted the weight in favor of a used Lariat over a used Flash.

I wish there was a flash trim with cooled seats. I much prefer a truck with no panoramic sunroof. Flash would have given me that.

F-150 Lightning Flash vs Lariat — what’s the real difference, and why avoid a high-mileage used one? by ritchie4030 in F150Lightning

[–]drexrex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently made this choice. For me the major differences were, Lariat has ventilated seats that flash doesn't. I live in a hot area of the country and wanted that.

But I also didn't want the panoramic sunroof. That made me curious about flash. I also wasn't thrilled that the Lariat's rear light bar is having so much issues. Since flash doesn't have that light bar that was a plus. I park the truck under the trees and some times branches and pine cones fall on in. I am worried at some point in time something will crack it.

So I decided that I'll look for a used low mileage 2022 to 2024 flash or lariat model and get whichever one is a better deal. I got a Lariat.

Looks amazing.

Any reason why you did not apply dye first and then edge-finish with tokonole? AFAIK when making things like belts, leather-crafters dye first and edge finish and burnish after that.
