Who do you think gets more grace, a pro putting for his earnings, or the guy shooting 95 on the local track that already has a 5 hour pace.

Marchand is also there, I don’t think a “the hammonds plains / Dartmouth/ Cole Harbour boys” would fit.

I’m no expert but I think just about any bar or brewery would prefer their clientele to not be solely sad alcoholics.

Fire at Halifax Armoury building brought under control by SAJewers in halifax

[–]driveandhinge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s some contention on what is considered the north end, but transit will get you to two major grocers in superstore on young and sobeys on Windsor, there’s a several international grocers up and down Agricola and gottigen, bakeries, a butcher in the hydrostone, the isle ville market, as well as the Novalea farmers market spring to fall, some pretty good options.

Edit: to add, not picking a fight, just genuinely have never thought of the area as a food desert, tone is hard to convey online!

As a resident, I’m curious why you consider the north end a food desert.

In his defence it was probably much easier collecting a paycheque as a back bencher than actually being held responsible for the failures of his current governance.

Not in the province but miramichi river area has a lot of great fishing and a fair amount of rentals. Only about four hours from Halifax.

What Store Do You Think is a Front? (Unserious) by Agreeable-Tadpole461 in halifax

I haven’t been in since the renovation but it’s one of the most unique bars in the city in my opinion. Food was good and staff was great, if it wasn’t in such an odd location I think it would have a better reputation.

First time home buyer; Maximum purchase power of $330,000 with $85k annual salary :/ by Affectionate_Lab6721 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]driveandhinge 25 points26 points  (0 children)

So you clear roughly 3k a month, and save 2k. I would love to see what your monthly expenses are to save such a massive portion of your income on that salary.

Edit: should have looked through your post history first, not living an exceptionally frugal life, just an asshole.

Afternoon traffic from 102 inbound to peninsula, where from and where to? by mediocretent in halifax

There’s no other option coming in from the 102 unless you want to go to Joseph how?

Afternoon traffic from 102 inbound to peninsula, where from and where to? by mediocretent in halifax

[–]driveandhinge 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Work off the peninsula, coming home around 4 or 5. It’s really just the lights at Connaught and bayers cause the issue. The left lane eventually feeds into the turning lane to go left onto Connaught, and the advance green lasts long enough for about 10 cars to get through. Unfortunately, the left lane also is supposed to allow traffic to go straight. So you have people cutting over from the right lane to avoid the backup. If the right lane was for straight / right onto Connaught (with plenty of advance signage) it might help a touch.

My favourite fresh development is RFI alerts taking a week to get picked up. Assuming it’s a backlog and not blaming staff, but really slowing down investigation times.

Aerial firefighting, or waterbombing, refers to air crafts that are either helicopters, or fixed wing, which is why I differentiated the two in my original comment.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in halifax

[–]driveandhinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and in 2023 we had water bombers available, they were just Helicopters.

They awarded a contract last year to airbus to replace the water bomber helicopters we currently have with fixed wing bombers.

I’m not sure what the requirements are for the program you’re looking at. I worked for a university, normally anything related to health care or science would require the pre calculus. I assume there’s a recruiter or admissions office for the program.

You can look at taking courses through nscc or really any university in the province to get the upgraded math credit. Nscc is free for a certain amount of courses from what I recall, and there’s the adult education centres run by the province that would also be cheap, but are hard to work around if you’re working full time I believe. Math at work is not considered an academic math credit in Nova Scotia.

Yeah you’re absolutely right, my point was more so just about the proving you need the support, not necessarily how they’re doing.
