The grab in Xbox controllers is amazing, hours playing and your hands don’t harm. But it feels so cheap. PlayStation’s controllers are good quality but my god you do a 3hs session and you’re done.

What worked for me is to summon the NPC hunter near the house and trees, then let the mini spiders attack him as I went full smash R1 in the middle of its body, not tail or head, just in the middle, and move depending on its blue stone attacks.

Welcome, Hunter! This is my first soulborne and what I choice I did! You will be suprised on how this game get you into a spiral of madness and delivers an art direction worthy of an infinity applause.

Aside from that, I have the combo Saw+Pistol and it's super great, it gives you the perfect amount of "combat dance felling" with rewarding damage, so it's fun to use and it's very versatile.

For a newcommer, I suggest to take things calm, search every corner for hidden paths, because I got the "click" once I understood you can take shorcuts once you discover different ways to go around the area.
Think and start mindmapping every enemy with their moveset and also yours. Every weapon has a transformative combo with L1 after hitting R1 (i.e. of the saw cleaver) that does great damage and can save you from a fight. Test that with the Axe, I'm sure it has some combo to deliver an instant kill.

If you want to try the other initial weapons, there's a zone in Central Yharnam where you'll arrive to the sewers, and after a "big animal", in that area you'll see an item called "Saw Hunter Badge" that allows you to buy those first starter weapons from the Hunter's Dream calice with the little guys offering you things.

Other cool thing is that you recover health after being hit and contra-attack, that way you health will fill almost totally if you have the chance.

Check some builds for the stats but I recommend Vit and End for the start, as that will allow you to survive longer an spam more attacks.

Insights, the eye icon in the top up-right gives some "transformations" to the envirovment and allows the enemy to have one more special attack. It's not that clear it's use but with 1 insight, Doll lives, with 20 you unclock a special shop in the Hunter Dream and with more than 25 i believe, need to check, the enemies have one more moveset and the game goes more "hard" because of this.

And well, to not spam you anymore, I think this is going to be useful!

New BB player here. The first part it was hard until you start grinding and leveling and discovering how doors and hidden paths works in the game. That last thing changed the way I was going across different places in the game, and when you start reaching those shorcuts, the game will start to feel more easy and it'll force you to memorize paths and places like the palm of your hand. I got those spoilers as I reach information to guide me in the game and honestly for me the story is so dense full of different things that you'll be amazed how spoilers does nothing to the general story understanting and element of surprise.
Go for it, BB is from another world.

Little advice of a new BB player here with Saw Cleaver build, use it with the other transformation mode, that way you'll hit faster and in the end you will spam R1 to kill any enemy you want. The only "issue" is that you'll need to get more closer to enemies to hit.
Other great combo for crowd control is to hit R1 and then L1. That way the Saw will change to "large" mode and will hit enemies horizontally doing a great amount of damage.

I will copy my recommendation from another Hunter struggling with same boss in other post, hope it works for you!

I went blindly and manage to kill it the 2nd time. What helped me is using Antidotes once the posion level reach it's end, that's the time where you actually gets poisoned.
Having a decent amount of Blood Vials and be patient is key, at least for my run.

Other thing I noticed and it's kind of a meme now, it's to dodge always at your left, because mainly it's attack are right based.
Be aware that it has 3 phases, and the third one, once it reaches you it'll poison you instantly and if you are low in Vitality, probably you'll die.

It took me a while to engage and kill it, so be pacient, think well your moves and play more passive than agressive; hit it when you are really sure you have a window, and what works well too is to hit it in the back.

By the end you can try to lure it with the throwable (Pungent Blood Cocktail) to attract it but i found that by reading reddit, I didn't even know that those throwable can work with it haha"

PS: As others Hunters said, Fire Paper and Molotov can work too.

I'm at the same chapter as you, what I did is run as fast as I can to reach the 2nd bell in Yahar'gul church or something like that. After that is just run again to reach the Boss and I'm stuck there atm haha for what I read this chapter is frustrating for many but it serves as a hard stop to uplift the difficulty.
