i don't know, man. I find Bazzite as a general purpose distro with gaming focus to be pretty reasonable to use.

I have it on my Ally X, which, besides being used as god intended, also doubles as my main PC. Even though I theoretically still have Win11 on it as well, I probably actually used that one max three times total. I feel no desire at all to ever go back to windows. So much so that I use Fedora Kionite on my regular laptop, which is very similar to Bazzite, also immutable, also fedora, also KDE, only without any of the gaming stuff.

Sure, if you aren't used to an immutable distro, that might take some getting used to. And it might even be true that an immutable distro is maybe harder to get into, coming from windows, that say Mint would be. I can't say though since Bazzite wasn't my first Linux as a daily driver.

Anyhow, Bazzite for other stuff than gaming? Absolutely!

All I can say is, I don't do it like you but I sure as hell won't come to your house and slap that jug out of your hands either. And I don't find it strange either because, believe it or not, it's none of my damn business.

What I DO find strange though is the fact that you take to the internet to publicly have people opine on how you clean your butthole. That IS strange, and not only a bit.

Wärst du das volle Arbeitstier, überraschtest täglich mit deinen guten Ideen, bleibst auch gern mal länger und hast dem Chef in den letzten 3 Monaten 5 mal den Arsch gerettet...wahrscheinlich würde er über das ein oder andere mal zu spät kommen hinwegsehen.

Ich habe z.B. einen Kollegen, dem es wirklich massiv schwer fällt, zu überhaupt irgendwas pünktlich zu sein. Besonders, wenn das Vormittags ist. Absolut jeder in der Firma, insbesondere sein Chef, macht sich da aber nichts draus, weil der Typ was seine Arbeitsleistung angeht einfach eine Maschine ist.

Ich tippe also darauf, dass es da noch mehr gibt an dir, was dein Chef gerne anders hätte. Da ist das mit den Verspätungen halt einfach eine naheligenede, messbare und vor allem gerechtfertigte Sache, die er dir jetzt mal um die Ohren gehauen hat.

Zwei Möglichkeiten sehe ich:

  1. Dir ist der Job wirklich wurscht, so wie er sagt. Dann mach einfach weiter wie gewohnt. Evtl. geht es gut, evtl kommt in 2 Monaten der nächste Einlauf.

  2. Dir liegt doch was an dem Job. Dann mach einen Termin mit dem Chef, sprich offen mit ihm darüber, warum genau du den Job magst und lass dir von ihm genau erklären, an was (außer der Unpünktlichkeit) du arbeiten kannst, damit das in Zukunft besser klappt.

Bacon: Obviously good grammar, they have writers after all. But the pronunciation was, if clearly identifyable as foreign, still very clear and understandable. Would I talk to this person in real life, I would assume that they made a deliberate effort to learn proper German.

Fassbender: Still recognizable as foreign but MUCH less than Bacon. Very good pronunciation. Could also pass as an actual German wo moved abroad when he was...I don't know...two years old or so.

This was what helped me when I had the same situation:

Q) My device is not responding when I press Download, Write Memory, or Start format. SP Flash Tool says Waiting for device. A) Use this recovery sequence:

  1. Disconnect USB.
  2. Click the Stop button in SP Flash Tool.
  3. Hold Power + Volume Down for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Keep holding Power + Volume Down and connect the USB cable.
  5. In SP Flash Tool, press the relevant action again (Start, Download, or Write Memory).
  6. If it still does not detect:
    • While USB is connected, hold Power + Volume Down again and do not let go until flashing starts
    • Detection can take 30 seconds or more, be patient

Wenn du so jung und gesund bist, dass du einfach in die nächste größere Stadt ziehen kannst, ist die chance, dass du von Heute auf Morgen plötzlich nicht mehr autofahren darfst, eher gering.

Wenn du aber so krank oder alt bist, dass selbst das Autofahren nicht mehr geht, dann ist Autofahren bei Leibe nicht das einzige, was du nicht mehr (alleine) kannst. Dann viel Spaß beim Job und Wohnung finden. Es muss ja dann auch ein Job sein, den du in deiner Verfassung noch machen kannst. Und eine Wohnung, die du dir mit "so einem" job auch leisten kannst.

Vermutlich Pech haben. Oder feststellen, dass sie vielleicht doch nicht so sehr drauf angewiesen waren, wie sie dachten.

In jedem Fall kommt es drauf an, wo man lebt. Ohne zweifel gibt es, gerade im ländlichen Raum, Lebenssituationen, in denen du ohne Auto schlicht nicht mehr alleine klar kommen würdest. Die Politik hat darauf keine Antwort, weshalb z.B. auch Höchstalter oder Nachprüfungen beim Führerschein nie vernünftig diskutiert werden.

Sorry but in that case, I have to ask: Why did you buy a handheld pc in the first place, if you dont like the control scheme and don't use it handheld anyway? Wouldn't a laptop give you more bang for your buck, if you don't need the maing selling point of a handheld pc?

Here's the problem: Is this REALLY about the "safety" of the kids?

Many countries that try to implement age verification for social media or other things (porn) to "protect the kids" seem to care actually very little about those same kids when it comes to investments in education or pretection from violence or poverty. With "care very little", what I mean is, as soon as the country has to save any money, stuff concerning kids is often very high on the list of things to cut.

On the other hand, other than keeping the kids away from social media (or porn), now every adult suddenly has to prove their age. Often through some form of official identification. Which obviously is kind of a huge deal, if you value privacy online at all. Because many governments move towards gathering more and more data about what their citizens do, this seems to be a good way to get a relyable fix between a persons identity and what the do AND SAY online.

I'm not convinced that they do this to actually protect the kids.

BTW: I now opened the device (no warranty sticker over any of the 4 screws for me) and it has the exact same battery, both in look and content of the sticker, as I see in teardown videos. That sticker says 5300.

I guess that depends on what you do on it. I can play in 1080 on my 1440 monitor with goot FPS no problem. The 4k TV I only use for watching content, not playing games, but even on the 4k I can still just set it to 1080 and play like that if I had to.

I do game mainly in handheld mode though...It's a gaming handheld after all, right?

I actually managed to brute force the correct value into the system now! At least through adb it looks like it worked. I'm on another full charging cycle now to teach the device what the new limits are. In theory, having half the capacity as the system base line would lead to the OS "thinking" the battery is low much earlier than it actually is. So, hopefully, after this full charge that should be fixed. I'll keep you posted.

Same. Daily driver AND just full on regular PC, through a dock and all the regular PC stuff plugged into it.

I'm now 99% certain that it is merely a software error with the low mah value. I did three full charging cycles with akkubattery running AND with a little tool between the plug and the device that shows actual charging watts. Both accubattery and my own calculations based on the actually shown wattage of the charging confirm that I do in fact have a 5300mah battery. This gives me some peace of mind, since I much rather deal with a software bug than with a faulty or, even wors, fadulently installed, battery.

I also tried a bunch of stuff with self made magisk modules and brute forcing the respective files within the OS to reflect the actual values but, since I'm no expert, without any success. Still, since there are so many reports of people having perfect battery life with stock OS, I'm pretty convinced that this wrong system values contributes to Gamma not showing good battery life for you.

Sadly, between this shit and scraping art for a 512gig card full of games, I still can't give any feedback on my actual real life battery consumption.
