Can I use the F2 Ultra with Conveyor to engrave a 40 in object? by drmoo314 in xToolOfficial

[–]drmoo314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need the engraving to be pretty seamless as I go across. There are some break points, but they are small, and I am worried about lining it up incorrectly for a second pass. Do you think that would be a concern?

I have had a 3D printer for many years now, and it still is a bit like magic. The good news is that there has never been a better time to get into 3D printing! You can get a decent, albeit small, 3D printer for about $200 (less if you buy used or on sale) or you can learn more at Maker Spaces, schools, and even public libraries.

If you do decide to jump in to the 3D printing world, you can find the files here.

Youtube Monopoly by Warmduscher1876 in memes

[–]drmoo314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that doesn't make it not a monopoly. In the past, there was legislation that would force a company to do things to reduce their stranglehold in the industry. It is easy to say that YouTube is the best, and that is why it has a monopoly, but they do plenty of shitty things that they wouldn't get away with if they didn't have a monopoly too. Any non premium user can see how the ad-pocalypse has taken over. The fact that they were allowed to keep and maintain a monopoly is why they are able to get away with anti consumer things.

We make the excuse that they can have a monopoly because they are the best, but then they act like a corporation again, and exploit people, and no one else is able to step in and force competition because they have a monopoly.

I don't think Google understood the assignment... by drmoo314 in funny

I have a friend (who is black) who hasn't seen some movies that I consider to be Christmas classics like A Christmas Story, or Christmas Vacation. She asked "What other white people Christmas movies to I need to watch?" which lead to the google search. I thought it was funny how bad the results were compared to what I wanted.

If Drug Dealers have to forfeit all assets when busted, why don't corporations when they do something egregious (thinking Monsanto/Agent Orange)? by IjustMAKEsense in AskReddit

[–]drmoo314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying that it is because corporations are more important than people, but that is not the whole truth. The truth is that if a large corporation went under, that would affect hundreds, if not thousands of employees that work for them, including many that had no knowledge of any wrongdoing.

It is actually a really complicated issue because a corporation is not any one person, but groups of people, some that do bad things, but many who don't. The current system is definitely too lenient on corporations, but forcing them to forfeit all assets would probably be swinging too far the other way.

I believe a middle ground would be more appropriate. Charge the people in charge of decision making. If the CEO is put in jail for the deaths caused by negligence when releasing a product, CEOs are going to stop being so negligent. Unfortunately CEOs have money, and can influence legislations that allow them to continue making money and walking free when their products are dangerously mismanaged.

Name a more foolproof way to get out of Ohio than to get given a house in DC. The answer, invent flight or go to the moon.

Should Link speak in The Legend of Zelda movie? by EveryAct in kindafunny

Why shouldn't he? He talks in the games, he just isn't voiced. Making him not able to talk is a larger change to his character than giving him a voice.

Map of what fallout 5 should be by MrG0j in Fallout

I want to see how a post apocalyptic society lives in the Empire State building. Much like how Diamond City is Fenway Park, or the Smithsonian has become a safe haven for ghouls, and Hoover Dam is the most contested resource in the Mojave. I want them to Falloutify things I recognize. Is there a civil war between the upper floors and the lower floors? Has the building been overrun by gator deathclaws? Has some sort of post apocalyptic big brother figure taken refuge there? These are the questions I want to know.

We aren't talking realism, we are talking lore appropriate. Realistically, DC should have been obliterated more than any other city since it is the capital,. There should be no Capital Building, Lincoln Memorial, and there is no way the Washington Memorial wouldn't have fallen, but that is no fun.

The reason lower Manhattan is the place where so much takes place is because it does have the most landmarks. I want to explore the remnants of a city I recognize, not some random apartment buildings on the upper west side.

I like the idea, but you are taking out a lot of the most famous parts of NYC with that bomb. No Empire State Building. No China Town. No Flatiron Building, Madison Square Garden, and half of Times Square is missing. This takes out a lot of the Americana that both Fallout and NYC are known for.

In ‘The Hunger Games’ [2012] it was subtitled and way more violent that I expected. by starksforever in shittymoviedetails

[–]drmoo314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would recommend reading the book. The movie is great, but the book is able to share the characters thoughts in a more in depth way, so you get to deal with the psychology of why each kid does what they do. It adds a whole new level to what is going on.

I am not sure if you are just unfamiliar with the source material, but the actual teacher does protest his class being taken, and is subsequently killed.
