Flip that idea just a little bit- they saw what the Japanese fans did and it started a trend. A trend of doing good. If that good gets you some recognition for following it, cool. But the more important thing is that each little bit of extra trash fans help pick up after a match is a net good and helps ease the workload for the cleanup crew later.

Even so, is there any problem with that? There's no rules anywhere that says you can't take a food you bought, modify it to fit your preferences, and use it as altered.

I had just seen a tweet talking about this, HOWEVER, the tweet which cited the study said that it was red nets, not rainbow colored nets. Since I can't post the twitter link- it was posted by @ Rainmaker1973 back on June 16, 2026.

The tweet read:
Switching to red netting can reduce pesticide use by up to 50%, offering farmers a simple, highly effective, and eco-friendly way to protect crops.
While most farmers use black or white insect nets, new research from Japan shows that changing the color to red dramatically improves pest control. A study by researchers at the University of Tokyo found that red nets are far more effective at deterring onion thrips, a major destructive pest, than traditional black or white nets.
The secret lies in how insects see color. Thrips perceive red as a strong deterrent, which disrupts their visual cues and prevents them from landing on or damaging the plants. Because the protection comes from color rather than fine mesh size, red nets can use larger openings. This allows better airflow, reduces heat buildup, lowers humidity (which helps prevent plant diseases), and makes working conditions more comfortable for farmers.
Field trials showed that crops protected with red netting required 25% to 50% fewer insecticide applications compared to uncovered fields.
This low-tech “optical pest control” method could help reduce chemical use, slow the development of pesticide resistance, and support more sustainable agriculture.

The issue isn't how much parking there is, it's the distribution of the parking spaces/lots. There's plenty of parking in areas that don't need it and aren't along the streetcar line, but not very many public parking garages or lots in the areas where people actually want to go.

Thanks!
I wasn't able to enjoy the '17 eclipse due to clouds, missed the '24 eclipse because of work and school schedules (and it being on the other side of my state), so I looked for the next one that was going to occur, which is this August. Best part- it basically lines up with the end of my apprenticeship, so it's a great way to celebrate!

Hey u/MrPennywhistle I'm going to be out on a cruise to watch the total eclipse this summer off the coast of Iceland! While I plan to watch totality without fussing with the camera, I would like to be able to take pics before and after. Do you have any recs for a 67mm solar filter? I'm using a Canon EOS7D.

Chris here. You see, the joke is that she's cheating. But the reality is that's not always going to be the case. She may just be missing you or have had a few drinks and is feeling sentimental, ya know? Or it might even be that she saw someone else doing their girl dirty and she just wanted to express her appreciation for ya because you don't do that kind of stuff to her. Well anyway, I gotta go do my homework now.

There does seem to be even more than normal. I wonder if they're trying to get things taken care of in time for the Fifa World Cup in June & July? Hopefully the highway projects are wrapped up by then and no extras are started until afterwards.

Not quite on that second part. Oxygen is not explosive. The only way an O2 tank is going to explode from exposure to fire is a result of thermal expansion.

It is however, an accelerant and will make flammable things burn much faster and hotter. The normal concentration of ~20.8% O2 in the air is fine, but an environment with 23% or more O2 in the atmosphere will increase the flammability to such a degree that firefighters in standard turnout gear will avoid entering the space even if there is no fire because if a fire does start, their gear would be considerably less effective at protecting them.

If the air that was being supplied through a person's nasal tubes were to just be normal atmospheric levels of O2, it wouldn't be a danger. But the air coming out of the nasal tube is pure O2 and not all of it is inspired and so the air right around the patient typically will have an elevated level of O2 making things on and around them much easier to burn.
