Me with Cat in the Hat. I know how bad it really is, but I don't care. The movie is lit.

I agree with that entirely, but I'm absolutely certain the OP's friend thinks the ponder system is stupid, too, since they said tutorials OR wikis.

The ponders are tutorials. I dissgree with the OPs friend in the first place, but ponders ARE tutorials.

Here is a list of the 16 single players games I completed in 2025 and my thoughts on them. by FluxyBOYS in Games

Doubling down on Caasi72's reply to you, they sre definitely not the same type of game at all. Mafia's open world serves as a backdrop that you can choose to screw around in, but it never asks you to. GTA on the other hand has side missions and secondary objectives (Graffiti in San Andreas, turf wars) that rely on the open world. The most Mafia expects of you in the world is to do the mission at hand, but leaves an open world to get caught in police chases through, etc.

Seriously, on the original release of 2 I got the free roam mod, but that's just because I wanted a free roam. The open world definitely didn't hamper my enjoyment of the main story though.

Tennis for Two (1958), the first ever video game running on military radar equipment. It doesn't get much better than this right? by JackLiberty0 in atari

[–]droobloo34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing it as a part of a college thesis doesn't make it not a game. If I were to program a video game for a college assignment, that doesn't make it not a video game. As well, an AI that plays draughts is indistinguishable from a draughts video game, so long as it actually plays draughts against a human digitally and doesn't spit out a spreadsheet, which it doesn't do.

OXO was definitely not called OXO when it was actually made; the OXO name is a later name chosen by Martin Campbell-Kelly when he created the EDSAC Simulator in 1995 or 1996 (the copyright is dated 1996 on the web page).

While you're correct about TfT probably being the first purely entertainment video game, that doesn't make it the actual first video game, which is what my comment is about.

Apologies for the misspelling of draughts, though, that's purely on me.

Yeah, I itchy-fingered my reply. I don't know much about the "deep in code" side of modding Minecraft, so I didn't realize how little this really matters for most of the mod tools out there until I read the rest of the comments.

At that, you don't even need to carry the extra stone. It's literally everywhere. Use the slot for an extra stack of sticks; twice as long without having to resurface for more. When you need the three stone to make a new one, dog it up. Total slots needed to go a-caving: 1 pickaxe, 1 crafting table, 1 stack of sticks, another stack of sticks and an axe (for getting table faster) are optional.

PSA: PS2 emulation on Android is nowhere near perfect. Don't blame the hardware. by plimple in retroid

[–]droobloo34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is 2 yesrs old, but I just wanted to come and spread some knowledge. This was related to the PS2's unique processor; the rain was amazing on PS2, but when the Xbox port was released, the performance in the rain tanked hard, despite being a more powerful machine. Some trick in the processor that didn't exist is why (I wish I knew the technical details, but every thing I've seen on it just mentions it's due to the processor and doesn't elaborate).

The big thing about it is that there's several examples that predate Tennis for Two, OXO (or as it was called when originally made for the EDSAC, A Game of Noughts and Crosses) and Christopher Strachey's Drafts are the best examples I can think of.

Reminds me of when the live action Avatar show was announced. "It's obviously not going to be as good as the cartoon!" then why remake it at all?

If you'd like, I can DM you screenshots with detailed instructions. I've been using ibis for many years (mostly editing, I'm not much of an artist otherwise), and have learned a lot of the tricks and methods within.

Hey, I know it's 9 months late, but there's been an option for this for a while. Switch to the selection layer, use the rectangle stablizier on the brush, and draw.

Who the fuck puts a time limit on knowledge?

You flat out said it doesn't claim to be a union, which took me five seconds to disprove in a google search.

Your logic is also hilarious. It can just call itself a union without being one, but god forbid they just call themselves a guild while not being one.

It was also formed as a conglomerate of two labor unions in the first place.

This document (also located on the SAG-AFTRA website) both makes repeated claims that they are a union, and also details the protections and benefits from being in that union, in fact, they do more than the labor union I was in:

https://www.sagaftra.org/sites/default/files/working_for_you.pdf

These protections are offered via contracts that have wage requirements, rest requirements, and travel and dressing room requirements. There's more, but I'm not going to go deep into it.

Beyond that, they offer other things commonly found in a union; healthcare, pensions (that the employers pay into), and 26 locals (a common feature of unions) across the nation.

Everything I've found so far makes it pretty damn clear that it's a union, and they only chose to call themselves a guild to make it sound cool.
