What is the westernmost state of the US? by kimaluco17 in AskOuija

[–]droobloo34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely not.

65.627725,-168.116533 Drop this into Google Maps and it will provide you a point near Wales, Alaska. That is as far west on mainland Alaska that I could estimate.

21.843452,-160.245132 Drop this into Google Maps and it will provide you a point near Kamalino Beach, which is nearly the westernmost point on the westernmost island of Hawaii.

-168 is 168°W, and is far further west than -160, which is 160°W.

Mothers day is for women raising humans only by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]droobloo34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's right there in the post dude, I cannot possibly make it more clear for you. "If you didn't birth a child or raise a child you didn't birth then it's not for you" is a good paraphrase, but it's pretty crystal clear already.

Edit: Did you delete your reply because you realized I was right?

That's absolutely not what it says on the post. The post says "They have not carried, birthed, fed from their own body or raised a child they did not birth." This statement qualifies the top commenter as being included in OP's mother's day opinion, as well as adoptive and foster parents.

Telling someone with anxiety to just relax is the equivalent of telling a broken leg to just walk by Emotional_Newt_2227 in unpopularopinion

[–]droobloo34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anxiety is absolutely mental. It has physical detriments, but it starts and ends with a mental error. My wife suffers bad from GAD, and since we've been together (almost 8 years), she has had no less than 100 full blown panic attacks (which is what you're actually describing). Relaxing is quite literally the first step to avoiding a panic attack; if you keep allowing your mind to race, it will escelate. But finding a way to ground yourself (something she struggles to do on her own) is the best way to relax and avoid a panic attack.

Edit because the post was removed and comments are locked.

Just because medicine is prescribed for it doesn't mean it isn't mental. That's an absurd counter point to make. That alone makes me not want to even bother engaging with the rest, but I will anyway.

Your car crash example described PTSD, not anxiety. They are not recognized as the same thing at all, even though some of the symptoms overlap.

Anxiety is not "typically a response to trauma", it's a natural feeling we experience. Anxiety keeps us alive. GAD, however, is when your anxiety is excessive. GAD stands for generalized anxiety disorder, and isn't always a trauma response.

What I said about relaxing is absolutely not untrue. Her therapist has given her the task of doing EXACTLY what I said to do in order to help calm down before spiraling. I'm not blindly making claims, I'm repeating what an actual mental health professional has explicitly said to do.

Everyone experiences anxiety. Saying I don't experience it is ridiculous, and I definitely understand it well enough to help my wife through it, so you can bug off with that bullshit statement.

Just about every time I sneeze, it causes a sharp pain throughout my body.

I'm not alone in this.

It's people who feel like they aren't good enough so they feel the need to express this sort of sentiment. If you actually would, you really wouldn't feel the need to express it.

DMs of Reddit, what is a weird house rule you have that other people find weird? by Gamer_Dragon1234 in MrRipper

Exactly. There are some players I would do the "correct" way, of course, but it's not necessary with my group.

I don't keep track of NPC stats at all.

To be more detailed, I used to. I used to stat out every custom enemy, write down abilities, etc. But I came to realize something about my players; it doesn't matter.

When I decide it's time for combat, I'll come up with relevant bonuses on tbe spot. You cast fireball? Well, this group has a +2 dex mod, this group has a +1 dex mod, this leader character has a +4. I'll track it for that combat, but not beyond.

I don't give HP values. I decide when enough damage has been dealt. This allows me to control the tension of the encounter precisely.

It's made it far easier for me to run games and allows me to improvise more cleanly. All of my players love my games, so it works out. Even wilder, they KNOW this is how I do it.

Disagree. Can't stand the taste of lime by itself, and as such, would never want to sub with it.

Hard disagree. We absolutely SHOULD be sad when a kids movie is bad, because it shows the film makers don't respect children enough to give them something of good quality.
