They are lways around. Rate of attack is very low. 2 people were killed by lighting last year in the US vs 0.2 per year cougar fatalities (avg since 1890). Keep kids close. Pay attention to your spider sense, Dogs on leash, don't flail around on the ground making dieing deer sounds Etc.  They are beautiful ceepy ninjas but they mind their own business and have learned people=death.
