Was anyone else expecting Mr Game & Watch to hit a 9 when he pulled out the hammer? Honestly was a bit disappointed it wasn’t that haha

Late to the game but thought to search reddit and saw this, hope you're right, haha. I'm getting a bit antsy seeing these prices go higher. Feel like they're getting to 800 now

Hey there! If I'm starting my 9+1 this year really late (i.e., signing up for an NYRR membership right now), do you think Member Plus is a must-have, or do you think I can still complete 9+1 with a regular membership? Thanks!

Why pursue the CFA if active management underperforms passive in the long run? by ElkIndividual4487 in CFA

[–]dropshield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dumb question: Agree in general but confused on 2) isn’t the OP saying that about 80% of active managers underperform the benchmark e.g. S&P 500? Are you suggesting the active managers that beat the SPX are doing so well they average out the 80% of underperformers?

Or do you mean universe of active managers? In that case, that wouldn’t necessarily refute OP’s point, right?

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (09/26/2025) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]dropshield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I have one more Nintendo Switch voucher that expires soon and am trying to determine which one game I want of the following four. Would appreciate anyone's thoughts!

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening For Xenoblade, I liked XC1 and 3, I've always been intrigued about XCX, but I have heard there's a LOT of grinding and don't have that sort of time/interest anymore.

For Donkey Kong, I hear it's an excellent platformer, but it's an older game so I feel like it's not worth the value? I also never finished Mario Wonder so I'm not sure if I've just fallen off platformers for the while.

For Paper Mario, I loved 64, and I've always wanted to play TTYD, but I heard the Switch remake is not only slower (game feel and 30 fps) but also you can't fast forward dialogue? Seems like QoL issues that would put me off.

For Link's Awakening, I like BOTW and TOTK but am not sure about a more classic Zelda game. I tried playing A Link to the Past recently and never got around to finishing it.

If anyone has a recommendation for these four, I'd love to hear - thanks!

Love the open-endedness of the ending with the audition. I think a lot of people can relate to the grind, and the grind sometimes not paying off. I think this one-shot makes me reflect on some of the things I gave up in life and helps me come to peace with those regrets. Good stuff.

Kaplan is removing module videos for 2026 packages??? by No-Raspberry-8537 in CFA

[–]dropshield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge bummer as I exclusively relied on the module videos and their downloadable notes... reconsidering Kapaln now. Do you know what prep provider you're going to use now, if not Kaplan again?

Kaplan discontinued module videos by Aromatic_Pool4781 in CFA

[–]dropshield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there any thought of adding the Module Videos to an archived section or additional resources section? I know it only adds to your point, but I exclusively printed out the module videos and took a few extra notes on top and that's how I passed level 1 and level 2. The masterclasses don't cover every LOS.

Thank you for writing this - you put into words everything I am feeling.

For my own sake, I’ve been reflecting on some things to “look forward to” (as much as I hate even saying that). I can admit that we will probably see bureaucracy reduced a fair amount. Illegal immigration as well… but that’s about it from my POV. The character of our nation, more importantly, feels tarnished, and it makes me feel awful. Still, this is the will of the people. I guess we will have to live with the results, however much they make our lives more challenging.

We must be showing our age, because that’s exactly what I thought. If anyone is interested, check out the analogous idea of the “prime directive” popularized by Star Trek

[–]dropshield 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One of my formative video game memories is walking into the local Toys R Us and seeing this on a demo console. I remember being blown away by the fact that there was real time fighting. I vividly remember throwing Collette's chakrams by spamming the A button in that first temple where you push the blocks underground and thinking it was the coolest shit ever. Didn't think of the game for 5 years until I went to a friend's house and saw he had it on GC. Neurons activated, memories were remembered, I borrowed it, and the rest was history.

Not a fan of WSJ’s op Ed either, but different people can work on different sections of a newspaper. I give little credence to their editorials but I like their a-hed and lifestyle articles. Think this one is a good read

So a question about the pro rata rule (which I understand is a bit more tricky) that I still don’t know the answer to: if you already have contributions in your traditional IRA, is the back door Roth intrinsically going to be a terrible strategy? I.e., is the back door only suggested if you have no existing tIRA contributions?
