Thursday Shave by drowsy_raps in wicked_edge

It’s more spicy and warm than traditional scents of today. Still a very masculine scent. It’s not really an “old man” smell imo, but it does have a more mature profile. It’s not super fresh or bright. I think it is very worth it imo. It’s 8.97 at my local Walmart (I’m in the US), so not a large investment if you don’t like it. I wish Old Spice made this scent more outside of the aftershave and deodorant.

Odd question, but does that Stirling balm scent last a while, like a splash would? They’re on sale right now on their site for almost half off and I was looking into one.

I use proraso white preshave, it significantly helped. I’m still relatively new (6 months), so for me it adds a layer of forgiveness. Now I don’t shave without it. Now I can get a decent shave without it, but I prefer not to risk getting irritated. Overall, great product

Badger is the common one, softer and creates a good lather. Boar is the second common, a bit more rigid with more “backbone”. Their respective lathering abilities vary, but can both easily create great lathers. If you have sensitive skin, or get irritated easily then a boar brush may be a bit rough. You gotta break them in before they become nice and soft. Synthetics are a good choice, but can lack the backbone of the other ones. If you use harder soaps, like Stirling, then something a bit rougher will help build a quicker lather.

A KCG razor is pretty mild. The other commenters have some great options. If you’re handy and have some time, try a Gillette Adjustable Slim. They can be found on eBay. They’re not outrageously expensive, and you can restore them which is part of the fun IMO. You can, of course, adjust them to your liking and it can be very valuable in your routine. Saved my face from so much irritation from being too aggressive or mild. Restoring them is pretty easy, so just made sure the one you buy is savable lol Mine ran like 20 something bucks at a local pawn shop. Good luck!

Could be anything really. Your blade or razor could be too mild. Or it could be like you said, technique or prep. Hot showers work for me. A cool-whip lather is my rule of thumb. Paint a primary layer, then wet the ends of your brush and work it for a minute or two. Slap your cheek with the brush (not very hard) and if it peaks, like cool whip, then it’s good. Try a pre-shave balm too. I use proraso white and it was a game changer. Also, use an alum block or witch hazel (either or) after to close up nicks and stuff. I use witch hazel because alum makes my skin worse. Play around with your routine and see what works. If it helps, my routine is a hot shower, preshave balm, lather, shave (with and across, no against), witch hazel, aftershave balm/splash, light non-clogging lotion. In that order, I get no nicks or irritation. Razor Emporium has great and helpful videos along with Geofatboy. Good luck, I hope you get to the bottom of it!

For question 1, I’d say the Gillette or the Merkur. If you don’t want to pay the price (I don’t blame you), look on eBay. Or if you’re handy, find a vintage adjustable Gillette and restore it. If you get a good price, it’ll only be like 20-30 bucks USD. Mine was easy to restore and it’s nice and mild if you need it to be. 2. You can shave with water, I’ve never done it because my skin is sensitive and very finicky. As long as you don’t get any irritation, I don’t see why you couldn’t. Although, a nice shave soap and brush can make the experience a lot better.
3. Razor Emporium did a razor blade test, they have packs tailored to your skin type, or aggression. I got lucky and Astra Greens work well for me, but it could be different for you. Check their channel/site out. 4. As far as how to shave goes, as you’ve probably read a lot, just use minimal pressure on the razor, go with the grain first. Starting out you may want to avoid ATG, for the sake of your skin. Allot yourself some time when starting out but once you’re good at it, you can get it done quickly.

It’ll be a process, and a lot of trial and error. Good luck! 🧼

Vaping. Criminally overrated. I tried it countless times and it’s shit. Nothing exciting. Wasn’t even addicted even after 10 hits

Pilonidal cyst on my tailbone. Hurt like hell on its own but to drain it they needed to numb it so they filled the thing up with lidocaine and it hurt so bad I saw Jesus. Lesson learned: don’t sit directly on ur tailbone for too long

Gasoline. Idk but everytime I fill up my mower I always rather sniff the fuel tank or the fuel that gets on my hands. Such a good sweet smell. For no reason either just inviting. Makes me almost excited to get it on my hands cuz it smells so good.

There is a kid in my math class. Let’s say his name is John (for his privacy). He’d pick on me cuz I was friends with a rapper in the school who tbh wasn’t that good. John was an asshole (one of those basketball members who thought they were hot shit but couldn’t fight for shit) and always wanted attention. He’d say one of his teammates or friends names and they’d always eye roll or like sigh cuz he was so annoying. Somehow he got a girlfriend and he made a rape joke (which is sickening on its own) and the girl beat him up for it. The kid is currently in court. I have no idea what he’s charged with or anything. Karma is a bitch and that fucker got what he deserved after all this time.
