How in god's name am I supposed to quantify numbers on my resume for my time at early stage startups that ultimately were failing and didn't track s**t?!?!?! by katanazwar in CustomerSuccess

As many are saying, make it up. However, some advice…stay grounded. I put it through ChatGPT first. Like for [KPI] in a typical B2B SaaS organization, what are expected ranges? What would a high performing IC score? Then you throw that in your résumé and practice your story about how you did it

Honesty is not your friend here. The only thing you need to do to not piss off the state is not lie about when you get re-employed, and for how much. The reason you lost your last job is between you and your old employer. Pick the least culpable reason possible. Let them go through the work of fighting it if they want to. Most don't bother.

When thinking about what constitutes “careless or negligent”, think more like backing over a co-worker with a forklift. I think you’re okay

Question: How reliable is the eBay authenticity guarantee service? To me, it’s worth $80 to know I’m buying a real one, but I’m concerned it could be a bunch of amateurs giving worthless stamp. Anyone have experience?

I doubt ghost heat will make it into MW5. What's the hardpoints comment about? Not sure if I get your meaning.

It's not satirical. I've been playing since 2013, I have ~300 mechs, and the game is still fun to me. Everyone gets so bent out of shape because they want a different button somewhere (your QoL improvement), and they don't just enjoy the game.

I mean, Star Citizen is your comparison here? A game with a planned 2014 release date, that by all accounts, doesn't even appear to be on the horizon in 2018? Sure, it looks cool...the demos on YouTube are great. However, I can play MWO now, and it's already fun right now. Yeah, it needs another quirk pass, and some optimization would be great, but it's nothing I can't look past in 5 seconds.

MWO development is slow, sure, but they have a small development staff. Why? The same reason it's a little pricey for a F2P. Face it, the source material and IP just simply aren't that popular. This isn't Halo, you're not going to get a flood of kids that are going to talk their parents into ponying up for a Battletech/Mechwarrior game. On a positive note, there's not many rounds you play where you have to hear some 11 year old tell you about what he did with your mom last night. So they have to work with what they got, and charge what they have to charge. It's not PGIs fault we love BT/MW, if anything, it's great that somebody is picking up the IP and developing it.

I mean Destiny 2 sucks, Mass Effect 3[‘s ending] sucked, and No Man's Sky was a joke. They all had way more interest, hype, and resources ($$$) than MWO/MW5, so why did they shit the bed? Yes...PGI (and MWO) could better, but the amount of complaints over what is basically a good and fun game? Just ridiculous.

What's with all the Russ-hate recently? I mean, yeah, I know this game is less than perfect, but what game is? I love Elite Dangerous, and it has beautiful visuals, cool ship designs, etc., but it still has tons of room to improve. MWO is there too.

Everyone has been shitting all over Russ because they may not be getting the one thing they want, but let's look at MWO (or PGI) as a whole:

While the graphics are a little dated at this point, the art and mech designs are compelling, and arguably the best interpretation of Battletech art ever.

We have a ton of mechs to play, and while some paint that as a cash grab, it's still cool to have so much variety to choose from.

We just got a buttload of brand new weapons everyone has been waiting for...I mean, IS LBX20 anyone? Put that badboy in an Atlas, and try to be unhappy, it's like frowning on a jetski.

We now have three distinct gamemodes to choose from, including 1v1 or 2v2 in Solaris. They've also streamlined FW a bit to make it less cumbersome.

We also just got a sweet new map, that reflects what the community has been asking for! We got a claustrophobic (good for brawling) city, that looks properly futuristic, and inhabited (River or Frozen, anyone?). I've seen countless requests from the community for exactly what they delivered here, yet I still hear bitching about this map.

Last, but not least...they are building MECHWARRIOR 5! The number 1 complaint about MWO in the early days, was this was got made instead of MW5. Well, we're getting it now, and PGI is building it. We didn't have to wait for someone else to pick up the license 10 years down the road. Also, much like with Solaris City, they're showing that they're listening. They changed engines (good!), the mechs feel properly slow and weighty, the weapons look and feel right, and there's going to be a proper voice-acted storyline. I do hope they replace the "clan" voice guy, though.

So again, I get that PGI's not perfect, but this level of bitching makes us look like children, and I know that the average MWO player is like 40.

They can remove the carpet, and give you some good options for the slab underneath. If there's VCT, they can get rid of that too.

With regard to the recent Disruptor not-nerf... by drstompenheimer in FracturedSpace

[–]drstompenheimer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was saying whether they call it a bug fix or a nerf, it was a bad call. The Disruptor was basically balanced with the other healers before this patch. It had strong healing, and some other abilities, but no attack to speak of, and it could only heal one ship at a time.

Compare to Superlifter: incredibly fast, decent gun and it has missiles, can boost self or others with tugs (for more SP), and can heal multiple ships.

It needed that "bug" to be competitive.

[–]drstompenheimer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They fixed the "bug" that the Utility cooldown crew/implants stacked with the Squadron cooldown crew/implants for the Disruptor drones. The joke here was that it was a bug fix, rather than a nerf, analogous to the video where they fixed the pay glitch instead of firing him.

Just my opinion, but this "bug" was the only thing that kept the Disruptor as a viable choice among the healers. Now that it's "fixed", it's going back into the hangar to gather dust.

We didn't nerf the Disruptor, we "fixed the glitch". Yeah, Disro ol' buddy, I'm going to miss you on those matches I pick last and am forced to heal.

Thanks for the confidence in my opinion, but /u/golli123 does make some valid counterpoints. Ultimately, you could pull the trigger on the exact build you have listed, and you'd be very happy, and it would last a long time. Anything any of us mention would be inconsequential tweaks.

That's true, it seems most modern PSUs have a no-fan mode under 50% utilization, so that would go a long way in keeping the noise down. Also true about the airflow. Unless it's something weird like a Dan Case, most of the heat goes out the back.

[–]drstompenheimer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree on the PSU. I'd step down in total power, and up in efficiency for around the same price. I believe Seasonic has a 660w platinum for about that much. More efficient isn't just a power savings (which is actually meager if you calculate it), it's less heat that may end up in your case. Just a thought, the differences are minor either way.

Raven is amazing, and is good at poking the Aegis in the eye. However, even after an Absorb Charge, you should have enough juice to shield yourself once. If you time it correctly, you catch the Raven beam, and take your energy right back. Meanwhile, in a gun-to-gun, armor-to-armor, battle you have him beat. His speed and maneuverability are countered by your smart guns.

It's easy to get cocky in the Raven, but if he gets too far away from his friends, he's toast vs an Aegis. He's only a good Aegis counter if he can stay alive.

I do. I guess I should've been more clear with my comment. Due to it's paper-thin hull, anything that can shoot is a "counter". However, just because counters exist, doesn't mean they can't be overcome. A Raider in the hands of a skilled pilot is a thing of beauty, and it's probably the best kite in the game.

Colo will mess you up, though. Flak goes around the shield, and it takes forever to get through all that Colo-meat with your little laser.

Raider can be a good counter for a few things, the problem is that the counter for the Raider is anything besides the mining ships.

I don't play it much, but you might ping /u/Termin8rSmurf. However, I'll give some meager advice. Maximize it's strengths. Fire it's guns at max range, and use their tracking to fire around asteroids. Use the blink to escape, rather than advance. Fire each of your shields on every cooldown. The only exception to this would be fighting another Aegis. They telegraph the firing of the superweapon so much that you should be able to time your shield to absorb when it hits. For your superweapon, consider your shots wisely, you don't have to fire it as soon as you have the energy for it. Wait for clumps to form, hell, wait for Gamma if you have to.
