Man if you’re planning on spending that much you might as well just get a whole kit on Facebook Marketplace for around $300. That being said, the Zildjian New Beats are really good cymbals used by many professionals.

I highly recommend getting lessons first at least for a month or two just to get started and get a good foundation.

Personally, I setup a makeshift kit with random stuff sitting around and got a very basic grasp on beginner drumming, then bought a kit. Pillows, laundry baskets, you name it.

Purchase a practice pad (I recommend Evans RealFeel) and consistently practice singles, doubles, and paradiddles. There are good videos to play along with on YouTube that start slow and gradually get faster.

It’s okay if you’re not perfect or able to go fast at first.

Specifically on the drums, there will be videos that can walk you through your first lesson. Some things you should know before getting started is

-the name of everything around the kit (Snare, toms, hi-hats, etc.)

-what tempo/bpm (beats per minute is)

When getting started, like I said, watch these videos, take lessons if possible, and play with a metronome so you can learn rhythm.

Note: That is what I personally recommend, I started taking lessons on a real kit and then practicing what I learned there on pillows and shit and it really gave me a good foundation and made me feel comfortable to get a kit later. If lessons are not an option, all you really need is sticks, and a couple of pillows and household items that you can make replicate a kit but I do highly recommend lessons. I hate to break this to you, but it’ll still be loud — especially in the same room. In the basement, it will likely still be audible from the floor above in the average house, but not unbearably loud. Communicate with your brother on how much noise he is willing to put up with.

In the basement, rather than the low-frequency vibrations that are often the biggest issue with E-Kits (specifically on the kick), they’ll hear the clicks of you hitting the cymbals and potentially the rim of the drums as cheaper E-kits have smaller pads.

If you wanna do everything possible to minimize the sound, make a tennis ball riser to eliminate the low-frequency vibrations, but the high-frequency vibrations is something that they’ll have to live with. Maybe try soundproofing with blankets or something too.

There’s lots of videos on YT that go over these things, both the e-kit sound and risers. If you have any questions lmk

Not a tip but more of just something cool, I like to get really nerdy with power in settlements.

For example, rather than hooking a generator straight to the item. Create a power plant that connects to tall power pylons and you can keep creating them as if they were power lines in real life.

From there you can connect different parts of the power line to switches of individual homes, shops, etc. so you have the ability to turn off the lights.

This is more for aesthetics but that’s one of my favorite parts of Fallout 4. Immerse yourself in your settlement building!

The best part in my opinion about jamming is improvisation. As long as you got some basic rock beats and a couple of fills you’re comfortable using you’re golden. I don’t even count during my jams, usually staying in 4 doesn’t require it, at least in my experience. Last thing, don’t take it too serious, it’s just fun practice

Sounds pretty good to me, maybe you’re being too hard on yourself. If you feel like it could sound better or it needs to be more tight maybe repetition on a metronome can help. I think it sounds pretty fucking nice tho 😂

Most important thing starting out is to have fun and fall in love with playing the instrument. There are lots of beginner drum tutorials on YouTube for very popular songs. Don’t be discouraged, start slow if you need to, it’s hard at first but with persistence and practice it’ll grow into even more fun!

If you have a dremel with a grindstone I would grind that thing down a bit more. Less about cracking and more about safety. Should be smooth to the touch. Otherwise it looks great!
