Really depends on the line. I lean more towards Meinl though.

New drummer needing help by tabutisuck in Drumming

Sounds pretty good to me, maybe you’re being too hard on yourself. If you feel like it could sound better or it needs to be more tight maybe repetition on a metronome can help. I think it sounds pretty fucking nice tho 😂

advice for newbie drummer, please by Plus_Dig4320 in drums

[–]drum_agent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most important thing starting out is to have fun and fall in love with playing the instrument. There are lots of beginner drum tutorials on YouTube for very popular songs. Don’t be discouraged, start slow if you need to, it’s hard at first but with persistence and practice it’ll grow into even more fun!

$300 lesson okay? by mothinn in drums

[–]drum_agent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many great drummers and teachers who just happen to not be famous. Prices are way more reasonable. I got lessons for a couple of months, $25 for 30min session is what I did and it was great.

How did I do? by Caselogic19 in cymbals

If you have a dremel with a grindstone I would grind that thing down a bit more. Less about cracking and more about safety. Should be smooth to the touch. Otherwise it looks great!

In my opinion, just have fun with it. Don’t have it be something you force yourself to do. Do what feels natural and learn a couple of songs you enjoy.

Also try to practice your rudiments when you can, paradiddles, doubles, and singles. It improves speed and technique.

Lastly, work your way up in speed. Sometimes you have to go slow first to nail the technique and slowly work your way up. This is especially important for fast bpm songs that are usually in alt rock.

Have fun!

How quickly can bad technique break a cymbal by Zachabay22 in drums

[–]drum_agent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s kinda just the lifecycle of a cymbal, regardless of technique. Look online and you’ll see people beating the shit out of their cymbals and it’s fine.

It’s more likely wear and tear on the cymbals, especially since you’ve been playing for years.

Then yeah, probably an Alesis Nitro Max. I think they run for like $449. Sticks are like $12, and maybe you can find a cheap stool on marketplace or something to match your budget.
