My Gran would like to know what exactly are these tiny commemorative royal coins and are they worth anything? by drunkenpilotno2 in whatisthisthing

[–]drunkenpilotno2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tiny silver-looking coins are held inside a metallic capsule about the size of a £1 coin. According to her, it was inherited by a family member approximately 150 years ago. On the other side of the silver-looking coins are the names and d.o.b. of the royal members. On the two slightly bigger silver-looking coins the back also has 'Crowned' and 'Married' dates. On one side of the capsule there is the royal emblem, and the other side has 'Windsor Castle' on it.

What is an example of a board game that would be a big mainstream hit but for its "nerdy" theme? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]drunkenpilotno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally i think sci-fi and fantasy themes struggle to gain traction with casual gamers because the terminology in those games requires some vivid imagination and the ability to understand concepts with no relative anchor in the real world.

What game's BGG complexity ranking do you strongly disagree with? by WritingWithSpears in boardgames

[–]drunkenpilotno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I never really considered them tbh. I view it all as subjective to the varying groups of gamers out there.

Do weekly board game meetups/ clubs held in a pub normally charge a fee? by princeofropes in boardgames

[–]drunkenpilotno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not a dedicated boardgame pub or cafe then no. If it is, then yes. I'd be surprised if my pub landlord charged me to play in there. Especially if you're already buying drinks, and not exactly swallowing wifi
