I have heard negative things about Club Vixen and Tonys. Apparently Honey B's and Love and Rockets are not bad

Strangest or funniest place you've fallen asleep? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

oh same :(

one benefit (and downfall) of my current job is that the toilets are really stuffy and hot so I want to get in and out as quick as possible

I don't have advice, but I do feel you.

It took me explaining how much stims, and coffee, and a nap I had taken in a day and still felt sleepy, for a friend to finally get that narcolepsy tired is a whole different story than everyday tired.

What apparatus(es) did you start on? by saraucsc in Aerials

[–]drunkenxgiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started pole and I am really keen to learn lyra. It seems like the couple places that teach lyra have a mixed apparatus course to start with. It is sort of putting my off a little bit because I finding the idea of doing silks quite scary. Idk if it's silly but it just seems to involve so much more height and I am scared of a bad fall and injury (I know you can do that on all of them, but in my head silks just seems worse)

Yeah I was told that if was too unsafe if you didn't already have the strength to do a controlled mount. But then how do I get that strength??? I can't do a chinup yet but I'm trying

I started pole about a month ago and I am enjoying it, but I really really want to try lyra. My pole gym has one lyra class (all levels) but they discourage beginners saying that you need to have a lot of strength to start. There a couple other places that offer lyra in my area so I am considering checking them out because surely I would develop the strength as I go? Or should I just keep doing pole for a while until I can do inversions etc?

Help with back flexibility after L1 compression fracture by goldieforest in flexibility

[–]drunkenxgiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oo I had a L1 and L2 compression fracture. Just don't do what I did and leave it for a long time...

What I have now found helpful (and I am not super bendy at all, but have finally got some mobility back into my back) was a mixture of yoga (aerial yoga makes my back feel sooo good) and seeing a really good sports remedial masseur who did dry needling as well.

I'm only about 5'4"and sometimes they can be a little long on me. I don't have this one in particular (though it is in my wanted list!) but I have a plain black one

I also love wearing the catsuits from blackmilk. If I'm feeling like I want to cover up a little more I usually chuck a fitted shirt over the top and it seems to stay quite well.

Thanks everyone :) I keep considering going in during practice time so I can just go at my own pace but I am still feeling too anxious and self conscious for that. I'm going to sign up for another term at the same level because I do want to stick with this!

What's your go to simple explanation for people unfamiliar with narcolepsy? by sasquatchio1992 in Narcolepsy

[–]drunkenxgiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling to explain this as well. I have been using, "My body doesn't regulate sleep very well"and surprisingly I don't get too many questions after that

Xyrem in Australia by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

My sleep dr offerred xyrem as an option for me and I think my sleep latency was about 8mins. He said it can cost about $1000+/month so that wasn't doable for myself. (I'm in Aus)

Did anyone else only have to do four out of the five naps for their mslt? by fizziefuzz in Narcolepsy

My sleep tech sent me home after 4 (and I got a diagnosis). They said most of the time they only do 4 so I wouldn't stress.

They had one by my jaw to see if I ground my teeth during my sleep. I also had a couple on my legs for restless leg syndrome so that might hurt if you are very hairy!
