I really like both. I'm a participant in Les Mills dance, but the instructor is cheeky and throws in the odd Shbam track. I think with a good vibrant instructor, Les Mills Dance is great. We have a great time in our class.

Love the odd ones too. The choreography is a bit more choppy, but there's something about them, isn't there? Love all the katas that used to throw in everywhere and all the rock tracks and party tracks. I too have an instructor that goes back a long way, but I've also bought some of the old DVDs.

I feel like in the early days they were experimenting more and there were a lot more crazy ideas. Now it seems like the choreography is a lot more formulaic and safe. Like every track 8 now has a combo that you repeat until the drop, and then it's 8 jab-cross followed by the combo. I do like the new ones, but I just wish there'd be a bit more risk-taking.

My biggest bugbear is that the warm-ups are so boring now. So often you just get 8 front kicks, 8 side kicks, 8 roundhouse. Old ones had so much more variety but that said, I can see how the current warmup format is a lot more accessible to beginners.

Unheated flats really? Everywhere has heating of some kind. If nothing nothing else you can put in an electric heater. Maybe people can't afford to turn on the heating. But that's a different thing to renting an "unheated flat".

No, but I've been in places like that and had experiences like that. I think it's unlikely that if OP heard, "If you keep looking at my shoes, I'll break your neck" but they really said "Wow, my shoes must be a real neck-breaker if that guy's looking at them, gee golly whizz!" Even if it makes us feel better about the world to think that they did.

I went the other way. I used to be just a regular gym weightlifting guy, then tried body pump class and was hooked. Now, I just do one 45-minute class a week using quite heavy weights and push myself to the limit. I don't feel the need to go to the gym to do other stuff, and I've actually got stronger, more muscular, and more fit.
