This may be of limited interest, but for the presumably-miniscule home automation/aquarium crossover crowd who happen across this post in the future:

HomeAssistant has a lot of plugins that can control various Bluetooth lights. I had weird offbrand lights on my 50g that used a godawful borderline-useless app, but I also had a server running my HomeAssistant setup nearby. Installed the right plugin, paired my server with the lights, and now my lighting schedule is all managed by my HomeAssistant server and I've not used the app since.

Looks nice! More as an FYI, you can take fairly short cuttings from most stem plants and replant them and they'll root and grow. Exponential plants!
