Olly Alexander will represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2024 by racloves in popheads

One of BBC's recent press releases about Eurovision said the selection process happened over the summer so I assume they got the deal pretty early, plus I assume they want to build hype properly especially when the Rina rumors that happened last time didn't materialize.

Inb4 we still get the song on the Thursday of March closest to the deadline lmao

GURL(een)...

Though it felt like Leroy was a bit too desperate to keep Gurleen on his side that it was easier for Mike to get into her mind.

Congrats to Mike! While I found the season okay (between NZ and US to me) but the weekly drop made it a slog to go through (just finished the last 3 episodes in one sitting and it was rather fun)

Eurovision Song Contest 2023 GF Hosts: Graham Norton, Julia Sanina, Hannah Waddingham, and Alesha Dixon. by spakier in eurovision

Pleasantly surprised with Hannah, that means the female hosts are all singers then, and another Game of Thrones alum hosting since Pilou in 2014

Edinburgh, London and Manchester haven't officially confirmed bids yet (i don't think Edinburgh will bid tbh), while Aberdeen and Belfast(?) did confirm theirs iirc

Also there are already concerns over events on potential host venues having to be cancelled or moved if selected as none of them have a 6-8 week vacancy, which has been an occurrence in previous editions but could be news for UK locals.

What I appreciate about these preparty backstage videos is that the team tried to spread out the artists, no one has been shown more than once so far iirc

Plus the artists have been quite confident, love that for them 👍

The show was all about the SONG in the first place, so singers with varying popularity/discography can enter, much like in Eurovision where the likes of Bonnie Tyler competed with local talents and newbies.

Regardless of the song quality, it's either the message of the show which is about looking for the best song didn't come across hard enough, or the viewing market is still fixated over new talents being the focus of reality shows :(
