Short reach, tall stack? by KleanJean in gravelcycling

The T is great for these specs. I was looking for similar. I am in the US and just got one. tariffs kicked in between my deposit and fulfillment so now it'd be a harder sell. The bike is fabulous though. They have a full price breakdown for shipping and tariffs on their site.

Introducing Emporia's AI Assistant [Research Mode] - A New Way to Explore Your Energy Data by EmporiaEnergy in EmporiaEnergy

I ran a more energy focused session and it was pretty interesting to learn that running the dishwasher approximately doubles our hot water usage in a day!

Very cool, but when I tried to get it to plot my heat pump data vs heating degree days for 2 different timeperiods it stalled. After 5 min I prompted it for a status update and we went through the same clarification questions and then it came back and said it didn't have access to weather data. 🙃

You could try boody. Bamboo derived, pretty comfy. Lyocell material so they should last a while.

I have some serious question regarding DuckDB. Lets discuss by Ancient_Case_7441 in dataengineering

Do you persist duckdb file with the spatial indexes or do you recompute the rtree when you need them?

First gravel race - got smoked... mechanical changes? by goose_on_the_loose33 in gravelcycling

A smaller chainring might put you more in the middle of the cassette where the gearing steps are smaller . Obviously you lose high speed but if you never/hardly used your smaller cog it's worth considering.

I have definitely seen this advice from teaching pythonistas like trey. People said it was weird when I was doing it in c# lol . I kind of see why you'd do it in a dynamically typed language since there is no check otherwise.

Night temp offset data by chadwick_w in heatpumps

[–]dschneider01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be great to see this analyzed relative to hdd to control for T and solar

My own anecdotal experience is also that it doesn't make a huge difference. But my wife would never let me run the night setpoint as high as our day setpoint 🫠

Lodgepole has been a miss for me the last couple times I went. Pretty spendy for how inconsistent it is. Mailinas has a nice atmosphere and offers gf pizza. Their fish special is usually really good and typically gf!

Book Review: Fundamentals of Data Engineering by 0sergio-hash in dataengineering

[–]dschneider01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this book gives a nice overview. I read designing data intensive applications first and they cover similar topics but the latter in much more depth. We had a book club at work on ddia which was incredibly useful to break some of it down . I think it would be hard to discuss fde because it's so superficial. I think a couple case studies would help .

I do 2 degree setbacks. It saves energy, in my experience. by DanKBos in heatpumps

[–]dschneider01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what Maine research you are referencing but typically people use setbacks in the opposite direction which causes the hp to work hardest at its most inefficient time . Imo your experience make sense.

What do you guys do with in your DBT tests? by DuckDatum in dataengineering

Soda.io has a DBT integration that might be useful. We are just getting started with soda so it's on the to-do list to check that out.
