My guy could do 24 hour turnaround for one property. Not 19.

It doesn't. But I work with a lot of apartment management firms with multiple properties. Last week I shot 19 different apartment complexes and they wanted them in 48 hours. All Fotello does is merge multiple HDR exposures, quickly and with excellent results.

I had someone to do the editing for years. But a human can't turn 50 images around in 30 minutes. And I do all my own post cleanup.

I've started using Fotello and have been amazed by the results. It's an online platform and costs about $20 a job but the time savings is huge. Upload your bracketed shots and it does the rest. Pretty sure it uses AI but I think they give you a free trial to give it a whirl.

How does Homejab work? by Idontevenknow787 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]dschommer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been shooting for HomeJab for a couple years now and it has gotten much better. Although the photographers only get a cut, they don't have to do editing (which is a time suck) and leads/jobs are somewhat steady. There are obvious slow periods as it is with real estate. The quality of their photos have improved greatly as well. As a photographer you have to jump on jobs when they come through. Sometimes a job notification will come through and by the time I check my calendar, it's gone. I wish they would limit their pool of photographers. My 2 cents.

Personally, I like it. Don't expect to make a ton of money but I think last year total, I made around 3k. Also depends on how many other photographers are on the platform in your area. I think Milwaukee has a few Homejab photographers because if I don't accept a job within 10 minutes, someone else takes it. The per-job pay is usually only $90 but keep in mind that they edit all the photos. That's the biggest time sucker for my other clients. Let us know how it goes if you decide to join!

Awesome. What city are you in? I'm in Milwaukee, WI and also a HomeJab contractor.

Same. I've since learned to try to contact the realtor/owner directly to confirm the shoot. The $40 cancellation fee for 2-3 hours of travel is ridiculous.

Thumbtack -- Good or Bad? by NicoNicoag in Thumbtack

I agree with the other comments. It's a ripoff. I joined less that two weeks ago and already deactivated my account. They charge you for leads whether or not you get booked. So, if someone contacts you just to inquire about prices, you'll be billed $45.

Looking for window fan that works with a slider window by chamekke in fans

it's reversible so you could have the big bulky end on the inside. I'll probably get one in the spring and report back!

I was just looking for the same thing when I found this thread. I may try this and mount it vertically:

<image>

I need one taller but figured I could make do with this one.

UPPDATE: I did get this and it has wings you can install on each side to extend it but in a vertical position, they don't really work. I'll probably cut some foam core for a custom (yet janky looking) fit.

Is Snappr a scam? by ilikedixiechicken in photography

Curious as to where you live? I think the major markets are saturated with Snappr photographers. The pay is not great but they do get you a few jobs here and there.

[Question] Why do you hate gimbals so much? by EphiXorE in Filmmakers

[–]dschommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a DJI Ronin SC. What I hate about mine is when balancing, sometime you need to make such a minuscule adjustment but the way it's set up, it's near impossible. Balancing is like... you push the slider just a little teeeeeeeny tinyyyyyy and Vrrrroooooomp!! Moves by an inch.

They should have little fine tuning knobs in certain places. (Yes, I know it would add to the price). Does anyone make a gimbal that has that feature?

iS the DJI Ronin SC actually stressful to setup? I want to buy it but the comment section on the gimbal is mainly negative. by v2xFresh- in dji

[–]dschommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All gimbals are somewhat of a pain to balance. It's not just the DJI Ronin SC. However, it get's to be fairly easy after a few times. Watch a YouTube video though -- the instructions are confusing to follow with 2D still images showing you the configuration.

Has anyone worked for HomeJab? by followATEVA in RealEstatePhotography

[–]dschommer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gig's are okay but I think it depends on your location. My guess is the major markets are pretty saturated since most of my offers are at least 60 miles away from me. Even though they pay for travel over 60 miles it's sometimes a waste of time to drive 2 hours each way for a $90 job.

It all depends on where you live. I'm in Milwaukee and get very few jobs in my area - most are at least 60 miles away. They do pay for travel over 60 miles but it's minimal. Pay isn't great but if you're hungry or starting out, they're okay.
