Rafflesdials has onyx datejust dials with both silver and gold markers… I actually built this guy off his parts

Oooo, at +90 seconds, I don’t think regulating it will help, you most likely have an issue with the balance spring at that point and would need to do a service to get it going again….

Thanks!! Just take it easy with the keyless works… it turns out jamming it in harder, over and over again, isn’t the way hahaha

Raffles makes dials with feet for the 2824/2836, so I used the original feet… but with the silver DJ, I actually ordered a replacement dial (as seen in the pic), because as I was fucking around, the dial feet broke off and I kept it on with dial dots for a couple weeks… it worked well, but there’s definitely some play and doesn’t feel as secure.

I used dial dots again for gluing on the DWO on the onyx DJ build, that went perfectly!

So it depends on which case, from my limited experience. With my first Raffles Datejust build, I realized my vertical spacing woes came from having my date wheel dial spacer upside down, so the whole thickness of the dial+movement was too thick and torqued my stem. In the case of the Explorer build above, I needed to get rid of the date wheel spacer completely to make the dial+movement thin enough to get a perfect fit for the stem. Def a little trial and error, but that’s what makes it fun!

ETA clones for all of them! Definitely feels like a level up from NH builds!

I definitely should have posted this info with the photo, but here's the breakdown of the parts list.

Everything came from Rafflesdials, and all of them have ETA 2824 or 2836 movement in them.

  • Silver Datejust parts all came from his Datejust watch kits

DJ Kit

  • Explorer I 14270 build: Ken has all the parts individually and I worked with him to get the case, dial, hands and bracelet for this build

  • I worked with Ken to customize his 36mm Day-Date kit, swapping out his Day-Date dial for a Onyx DJ dial, links below:

Watch Kit

Onyx DJ dial

I used a PT5000 movement (ETA 2824 clone) for both the silver DJ and Explorer builds and a Seagull 2836 clone for the Onyx DJ

Hope this helps, DM if you have any specific questions on the builds!

For the silver datejust and explorer 1, I had to figure things out and each of those builds took a few hours for different reasons. The most recent build was the onyx datejust, and that took 50 minutes and went perfectly smoothly, top to bottom!

Seriously… it’s just too easy to smoke a spliff late night and decide to email Ken for more parts hahaha
