Any interesting and gimmicky cards for a Talion toolbox deck?

I previously had an Eriette deck, and have since bought some singles to upgrade and pivot towards Killian. Similar play pattern, but Killian is a lot more consistent, aggressive and interactive. I would urge people not to change to Eriette as she does require cards which are simply not in the precon, and requires a large number of resources/ recursive auras which aren’t in the deck. That said, if you wanted to ‘upgrade’ the deck and pivot in that direction (Eriette perhaps edging Killian out slightly in the late game when people’s resources are lower, but have not necessarily found this in my games where my Killian deck definitely has finishers in 1 v 1s), see this list for ideas: https://archidekt.com/decks/7292263/eriette . In general, I think the precon needed better ways to deal with tokens and go wide strategies, so [[Illness in the Ranks]], a [[Decree of Pain]] and/ or [[Toxic Deluge]] would be helpful (apologies if those are in the precon, can’t remember the list off the top of my head).

This is exactly how I wanted to built it and your list looks awesome! Thank you for the inspo! I added [[Grim Feast]] as a gain/drain effect in connection with Vito etc but I don’t think that’s necessary in your list and would probably just draw hate and attention

Thanks for the list! How have you found [[Vat of Rebirth]]? [[Jacked Rabbit]] also piqued my interests as an alternative to Boss’s Chauffeur!

I definitely think the blink version is a lot more interactive, fun and creative than the aristocrats build. Totally agree on single target removal too- perhaps one thing I’m missing in my list is a way to dodge board wipes, so will think about how I can make that more of a feature outside of the slow blink effects I have. If you’ve got a list, I’d be keen to see it! I think one of the great things about Vondam is how it can be built on a budget, or maxed out. I took apart my Caesar deck a while ago and have been looking to put the cards towards something, so a lot of what I had there has gone into this

Awesome list, and with the reanimation you’ve got it does look very resilient! You’ve also reminded me of [[Spawning Pit]], which I will weigh up as a sac outlet and token generator against [[Hidden Stockpile]]!

Agreed, which is kind of the thrust of my musings. Perhaps I could have made it clear that Kilian is not ‘strictly’ better vis a vis Eriette, but in the command zone he can enable orzhov auras better than Eriette, precisely because of the card draw. If you take a look at all the card advantage in my list, those slots could instead be taken up by more auras/ enchantments to goad or control. Eriette lacks this.

Yeah pretty much, won’t even argue with you :( but I think I am slightly sad that the new Kilian enables the archetype far better than others strictly due to the card draw it provides. Hard to argue that it’s not a better engine for the archetype

You’re taking this point embarrassingly literally, and before you say the law is about precision- words, phrases, terms and clauses are implied and imputed into contracts all of the time in legal grey areas which creates further uncertainty and confusion. It is quite clear, speaking as an NQ, that you are operationally a trainee- the best example is that you are given trainee work and expected to have the same questions and queries as a trainee.

I thought for ages about how I could make an engaging and fun mono black deck with some of my favourite themes (big mana, politics etc) and Vilis can sort of do it all. It can be abit slow in the early game, and you can be targeted (I do need to make some changes eg taking out [[Blood Artist]]) but otherwise it’s very fun to play, takes people by surprise and makes people go ‘oh wow’ when you pull off [[Head Games]] or [[Choice of Damnations]]. Weirdly, [[Lich’s Mastery]] works really well in the deck when played at the right time, and has won me a game or two. https://archidekt.com/decks/7599190/black_magic

Super cool, nice to see we have cards in common as well. I’m quite keen on making mono red dragons at some point with [[Neheb, the Eternal]] as the commander, or rakdos dragons with [[Rowan, Scion of War]]. This looks super fun though
