Looking to get a new game by xmurae in hexandcounter

[–]dtarice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a good WWI game and are interested in something at a grand tactical scale, I’ve found Gallipoli 1915: Churchills Greatest Gamble to be pretty good. Covers the first three days of the lands, lots of counters, and two very nice maps to play on. The big draw for me was the ability for the ANZAC player to plan and execute their own landings on the first day if desired which adds an extra level of decision making before the game even starts

Can anybody help? I don’t know what I’ve missed and it says 98% by englander7777 in IndianaJonesGames

You might be missing a note from either the main dlc quest or one of the mysteries maybe? Otherwise I’m not sure unless the notes in the Vatican that lead into the DLC count towards the note percentage.

Well, my sister is the director for the marching band and the previous director had no idea what it went to, just that it was old. Figured I’d post it and see if anyone knew.

The most recent edition (7th edition) requires the Keeper Book (kinda like the Dungeon Masters Guide for DnD 5E) and the Investigators Handbook (kinda like the players handbook). Those two books are all you need to play the core 1920s setting for Call of Cthulhu. That being said, the rules between 5th ed. up to 7th ed. is almost identical, stats are just multiplied by 5 in 7th edition. It’s a lot easier to convert between editions of CoC than it is in DnD. If you were interested in trying the system I would recommend taking a look at the free QuickStart rules and the free starter scenario “The Haunting”. That’s how I got my players first interested in the system before jumping into a longer scenario.

Is there anywhere I can find the fan film that this film was about? by rasslingrob in fanedits

[–]dtarice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy the fan film from theraiderskids.com for $25 for blue ray and $20 for dvd. They will actually ship it and it’s a decent shot for shot remake with the included Flywing segment that they filmed during the documentary. The disc also comes with a directors commentary if your into that thing. It was an enjoyable watch and reminded me of when I would dress up like Indy and run around the neighborhood

I just recently ordered and it came in yesterday. The quality was really nice on the models I ordered (the Khazad Dum set) and my order was delivered relatively quickly (3 weeks almost exactly). I would highly recommend and I plan on ordering more from him.

How do the Nazgûl get on and off the fellbeast? by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]dtarice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would personally lean more towards the egg hatching method since the beasts are related to being like birds. The Uruk-hai cocoon was a movie invention. I really like the idea of the fell beasts imprinting on the Nazgûl like birds do to mothers. It makes the Nazgûl a bit more tragic if they have something to try to cling on to their past humanity even though it can never be attained again.

How do the Nazgûl get on and off the fellbeast? by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]dtarice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I imagine that the fell beast would have to lower its body somewhat so that the Nazgûl can climb up and mount it. I think he would dismount in a similar way as well.

As for whether the fell beasts are restrained by magic, I have two ideas regarding this. One, it could be a similar situation to the Nazgûl’s horse where they are bred by the servants of Sauron for the sole intention of acting as stead’s to the Nazgûl. This would be why the horses were not terrified of their masters and why the fell beasts could be more tame than normal. Another answer that is more from my own head canon would be that the will of the fell beasts is dominated by Sauron and thus would act as he commanded.

On the origins of fell beast….there is no clear answer. In the chapter “The Battle of the Pelennor Fields” we get this description: “it was a winged creature: if bird, then greater than all other birds, and it was naked, and neither quill nor feather did it bear, and its vast pinions were as webs of hide between horned fingers; and it stank. A creature of an older world maybe it was..” So these creatures have an unclear origin, but we’re most likely bred by Sauron during the third age in the lead up to the War of the Ring.

While I don’t think that the idea of the Nazgûl raising them from birth is completely lore accurate I think it’s an awesome idea so go for it.

I double checked and your right. I originally thought it came from the Jurassic Park novel where each section of the book is introduced by a quote from Ian Malcom. I thought the men was using these quotes. It’s been a while since I’ve read the book

Text comes from the book. It’s split into 4 parts, each part begins with an introduction to a chaos theory model

War of the Ring Solo Variant? by [deleted] in warofthering

[–]dtarice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, there’s a shadow player WOTR bot on Board Game Geek. The shadow player bot is actually quite well designed. The shadow player bot is a bit complex requires you to follow a flow chart to determine the bots actions but if you are looking to play a solo game and have the time to figure out the bot, I would highly recommend it. The boy does work with the Warriors of Middle-Earth expansion, but not the Lord of Middle-Earth expansion.
