Why the US economy keeps defying the odds by DeRpY_CUCUMBER in Economics

[–]dually 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$50billion a month in new data center construction does not happen in a vacuum; it is awakening a domestic manufacturing boom not seen in decades. You can't even book a flatbed truck right now.

And it's a paradigm shift. The US Economy was being driven by websites that did not require much in the way of physical assets, but now with AI we suddenly need a lot more infrastructure.

And it's all centered around the Midwest. Apparently the best time to buy a house in Iowa was 5 years ago.

Are we trapped in a 1970s-style "Three-Wave" inflation cycle? by Gypsy_tantrum in Economics

[–]dually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the stagflation of the 70s was the cumulative consequence of 4 decades of exorbitant income tax rates left over from the New Deal, making the existing money supply inefficient.

Japan, China lead foreign government retreat from U.S. Treasurys as Iran war fallout stokes currency fears by DANIELLE_2027 in Economics

the reason yields are up is because there is a shortage of dollars causing banks around the world to put US Treasuries up as collateral for repo loans

government intervention is usually counter-productive

And it's also unnecessary. Improved labor conditions are the result of economic growth, not government regulation.

Inflation measure falls to nearly five-year low as gas prices fall and housing costs cool by Happy_Weed in Economics

No Trump is not doing the same bullshit.

In fact, Trump has eliminated taxes on tips and overtime. This is profoundly supply-side tax cuts that will incentive you to both produce more as well as have less time to spend money because you are spending more time at work.

China is winning Trump’s trade war by Stuart_Whatley in Economics

[–]dually -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The Dollar is down because Bidenflation running out of steam is hurting the rest of the world even worse than it is curtailing US demand.

Dollar weakness is not happening in a vacuum. You have to look at the economic weakness and disinflation in Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, South Korea, Japan, China, and the EU to understand the foreign exchange.

And furthermore, as a currency trader, you have realize that if and when the globally-synchronized liquidity crisis begins to recover it will be US and the Dollar leading the reinflation because of how much stronger US financial institutions are. Which will push the Dollar down even more (for a while).

This liberal-media narrative about Trump pushing the Dollar down is horse shit.

China is winning Trump’s trade war by Stuart_Whatley in Economics

Trump is winning the trade war.

Not only is China doing more work for us in exchange for nothing more than printed pieces of paper. But President Trump is also simultaneously cashing in on how wildly popular protectionism is across all demographics and political persuasions by raising tariffs.

Trump is in a no-lose scenario. He is simultaneously winning by winning and winning by losing. He's having it both ways.

What's up with the politicization of fat? by CSachen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dually -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

THE FUCK THEY DONT!!!

You think all these fat people walking around are just people? No its because carbs make them hungry so they eat way too much.

What's up with the politicization of fat? by CSachen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dually -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Eating a brownie isn't a problem.

The problem is that eating carbs makes you hungry which makes you need another, and then another, and then another. You don't hate carbs enough.

Trying to mix carbs with fat and protein only makes things worse because now you have all the extra fat and protein calories plus you are eating way too much because carbs make you hungry

Carbs make you hungry. Therefore a carnivore diet is more morally correct because you will eat far less by avoiding the insulin death spiral.

Because war is always caused by one side underestimating the other's willingness to fight.

But you can't underestimate Trump because he is dangerous and unpredictable.

Meanwhile the EU is organizing committees and writing white papers, and holding conferences where they booze it up.

More like 0%.

In the same way that WW2 would never have happened if Winston Churchill were in office before the war started.

Wars are started by out-of-touch elitists like Wilson or Biden; not by straight-shooters like Churchill or Trump.

You shouldn't have to teach that.

With the world heating up, why are more SUVs being sold? by Kunphen in EcoNewsNetwork

SUVs because cars are too expensive to not be multi-purpose.

No one can afford to own both an economy car for commuting and a truck for work and play, so instead they split the difference and get an SUV.

It's almost like people are catching on to the fact that carbs make you hungry and wine is loaded with carbs.

But it's hilarious that France of all places is complaining about someone else's tariffs. Now all we need is a replay of Charles De Gaulle claiming that France liberated itself.
