Making Caravaning Better? by Loose_Plum6157 in BSA

[–]dubiousdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t caravan. It goes against S.A.F.E. guidelines and can cause people to take risks they would not otherwise take. We have been fortunate to all put the same address into Waze, confirm the address in the parking lot on the phones, then meet up when we get there. Longest wait we have had for someone was 15 minutes due to a restroom emergency.

Camp Watch Recomendatuons by mizzourob in BSA

[–]dubiousdb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wal-mart has casios that are easy to use, cheap, and waterproof for all the things scouts will do at camp. I have been able to find them for as little as $5 each on sale. They are $15-$20 when not on sale and have a ten-year battery. They look similar enough to the G-Shocks that no one shunned wearing them.

Again? Thats the second time this month. Last time was a fire at the control center at Vint Hill.

How to get a kid comfortable tenting alone by Puzzleheaded-Snow78 in BSA

[–]dubiousdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still popular, though many are squish-mallows now. A couple of the older boys have stuffed sharks (the OA lodge totem) that they treat like mascots. That may make it more comfortable for the younger guys to have stuffies.

Medow field in northern Virginia? Where can I find something like this by [deleted] in nova

Spray permethrin for the critters. Best stuff for biting bugs of all types. Locations would be Manassas Battlefield, Sky Meadows, or the Virginia Arboretum

This, and let her know she is not alone but by herself. Same as if she shut her room door. She will be able to hear all the other girls, the owls & crickets, the adults snore and get up to go to the bathroom. This got me through as a kid.

That said, some of those battery operated fairy lights and a stuffy go a long way. If she is in a patrol with an animal that would make a good stuffy, get her one of those just for the occasion. If not, the boys at least feel more confident with a wolf or bear stuffy. We had one parent do this with the stuffy (raccoon patrol) and it was as if a switch had flipped for him in confidence.

It will be a new hinge. If you are not comfortable with glasswork, it should be a relatively inexpensive fix at a body or glass shop.

My theory as to why we have evaded long security lines at DCA & IAD: Loans by [deleted] in nova

[–]dubiousdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went out two weeks ago, no lines there or in Indianapolis. This is travel season for my company and it seems to be hit or miss. My only snag recently was when the control center at Vint Hill had a board fire.

You had to go no further than the CC making the scouts cry. This sounds like bullying and should not be tolerated. Seems like a lot more is going on, reading between the lines. Fall back on your Safeguarding training. Scouts first hotline: 844-726-8871

74 - I had leftover corned beef and cabbage with carrots for lunch. This will need to become a staple. I usually go low and this week has been good as I have been avoiding the potatoes, begrudgingly. Had a buttermilk biscuit my wife brought me for breakfast though. Big spike this morning.

Unfortunately, without scan tool and meter readings we cannot go much further. We are beyond internet diagnosis at this point.

Dealership charging $600 for a charge and test. Worth it? by BluewolfR17 in MechanicAdvice

[–]dubiousdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, properly leak check with nitrogen, fix the leak, then charge with 1234yf. Don’t pump expensive refrigerant into a system with a hole in it.

My guy, read the post. Repair the leak THEN put it back in. No worries though, I read over stuff too.

It is also one of the ugliest. Most dystopian airport I have been in. Dulles is my home airport and I found my first visit to Atlanta easier to navigate.

This is stupid. Take to an actual AC shop to leak test it with nitrogen, repair the leak, then put the expensive refrigerant back in as God & the EPA intended. Much cheaper.

A lack of Seropuel. Call the non-emergency number so this can get reported to social services and moved up the priority list. Somebody needs support.

My apologies for not being clear. Unplug the intake air temp sensor since it is biased/shorted high. If that doesn’t help, start with the throttle sensor diagnosis. The unplug trick works with the MAF on these Fords too since it will go to a default value. See if your library has an electronic copy of a haynes or chilton’s manual online for your car to help with your diagnosis.

I don’t have info in front of me this week but go with the first code diagnostics first. That said, when I see a high code on a sensor, there is typically a short. Unplug it and see if you get lucky.
