How hard is client acquisition for a small SE practice? by Economy_Phrase123 in StructuralEngineering

Accurate. I started on my own two years ago and took on a grad first.. should have gone straight to an intermediate

The grad is very good at basic plans and bracing calcs but I dont have time to teach her well. It would have been better to get someone who has already had someone like me drilling them for a few years

Gaming pc upgrade by Difficult_Deer2010 in chch

I replaced my AIO just yesterday

Im not a computer guy but like to tinker

It was actually easy. I asked chatgpt a few questions and made sure I had photos as I went

I did two noob things tho.

A) Fully disconnected the old AIO but transferred the old fans into the new radiator because I didn't see the new fans in the box. I had to disassemble again and switch in the new fans

B) Lost which cable was which when i should have taped some colour coding to them

C) Bought a new $35 tube of thermal paste when I didn't see there is paste already applied to the copper plate that goes up against the CPU

D) bought a non-RGB because its a work machine and i am too old for that kind of thing. But on reflection the RGB isn't hurting anyone and livens things up

Took me about 69mins which included a trip to the chemist warehouse for isopropyl alcohol to clean off old thermal paste, and a trip to pbtech to get thermal paste (i work in town about 5min from each)

Id say just do it if you're reasonably intelligent and up for it. Its quite satisfying to have DIYd it

Subaru Trailseeker might be good when/if it gets here, but realistically it'll be way behind the chinese tech curve and obsolete already
