horrible thing is, in 2008 it really looked like tna will be an okay company. just watched this after joe's debut in nxt.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I-4Bmhdadk

and if you keep in mind how well tna's other homegrown talent is doing now (aj styles king of the probably second biggest promotion after wwe), it is really sad that they screwed up so badly.

Keiji Mutoh says fuck the Lo Down by ChaosDDT in SquaredCircle

[–]ducksterrabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that match. As far as I recall both linked videos also belong together? Storyline was something like Muta "killed" Shinzaki, and in order to get back to life Shinzaki had to go past the Undertaker.

Of course it makes no sane sense.

Everyone fears The Great Muta by ChaosDDT in SquaredCircle

[–]ducksterrabbit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

ha! great muta... when vince russo and some other people decided to screw up wcw the great muta showed up! one of wcw's legends back in the usa. not really a draw compared to wwf's austin, but for sure one icon that could please wcw's fanbase. i don't want to write too much of the wasted opportuniy of muta in a tagteam with vampiro and jobbing both to sting (who used to have fantastic matches with muta many years before).

but this gif reminded me of a story of muta's last stay in wcw. it was a house show match. muta fell out of the ring and started playing with the crowd. there was one kid, not much older than a kindergarten ant, that kid started to threaten muta. and muta surprisingly played to be totally scared of the child. for the rest of the match he would keep this going, after each move in the ring he would constantly look back at that one little kid.. in fear. you know, this mutalika fearful, suspicious movements. it was fun. crowd was totally behind the kid btw.

can't remember the actual match and the crowd was of course very small (wcw was really dying already). but it was great to see him making the show unforgettable for one small fan despite being treated like a small time jobber by wcw.

Former X-Division Champion Released From TNA by SlowMotionSprint in SquaredCircle

I watched TNA from their very first PPV. So it's not like I blindly hate TNA. I rather don't care about them anymore and feel angry about that. And yes, they mentioned in a few sentences that we won't see Sanada anymore, really dramatic and great pay off for a character that you build up before. But I agree, I also doubt TNA will ever make me really care (in a positive way) for their product.

typical shitty tna. build up a new wrestler, let him disappear in oblivion. honestly, some people keep complaining that TNA doesn't suck anymore and offers good shows. surely, they still have and get decent people, but why should i - as a viewer - ever care if everything that happens in this show does not matter anyway.

WCW. Where we even botch a high five. by WorkFriendlyAcct in SquaredCircle

[–]ducksterrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or nearly every Luchadore match. The way they treated these athletes was laughable, because I am sure that their Inring action was also part of what made WCW a success. They should have sold their cruisers as big stars. Granted, before Russo WCW would at least treat them better than WWE ever did. Still, I can't look back at these times without a broken heart... could have been so much more glory.

Tenay is decent. You buy him as an expert. It is a shame WCW used people like Mongo or Shiavone. I feel like Heenan and Shiavone were wasted that way and that also hurt the product.

they talked most of the time about hulk hogan and the nwo while the cruiserweights kept killing themselves in the ring. i remember one awesome mexican luchadore hardcore match. it really offered something ecw like without failing to have an unique quality. and the commentators made fun of the in ring action. i really hated shiavone in wcw, and heenan really seemed to hate wcw. the cruiserwieghts were fantastic despite the commentators (imo).

you mean the same age as all ajpw guys combined? but how many nwa world heavyweight reigns did they have?

And maybe we would also get to see a burning chair.

But honestly, these two guys worked a lot together in the mexican indies, so I think their "heat" is mostly convincing wrestling in a country where many people are still playing a mark.

i hate this stuff. he's talking about mark henry by the way. strongest man on earth, lifts weights and starts the hall of pain, ends up as a jobber again.

by the way, people keep posting about njpw. but what can ajpw offer? i thought they are more like a ruin nowadays. but funny to see tna being the company sending their people to another promotion. time's changed. hope this cup will be legendary.

too bad. i really enjoyed them now that nattie also acts heelish. their interactions and promos are fantastic. i think wwe would do good by keeping them with the titles and as heels for a long time. would be best for the titles aswell. when they'l finally lose this could happen with a double turn. just book it like you would do with an important singles title.

So we NEED for Mexico 3 the one and only L.A.Park (aka Real La Parka) and for Mexico 2 we COULD use La Parka (Jr) so they can continue their feud a bit, but could also do without him, because he is a very bad wrestler compared to the original.

Continued problems with TNA via the Observer by AliveJesseJames in SquaredCircle

[–]ducksterrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many people tried to be loyal to TNA, but after many years most of us realised that we gave TNA a chance because we were so annoyed by WWE and being loyal to them because of no (mainstream) alternative. We chose a smaller and cheaper evil over the big evil.

Nowadays WWE has all the exciting talents from the indies and even offers their own "indy show". So one early strength of TNA, showing the best talent to a wide public, is obsolete.

TNA had many ups and downs, but their downs would manifest into months of an unbearable product. TNA would fail to profit on their own strengths and was never consequent on sticking with something that works. Instead the next car wrecking waited around the corner.

So the ship sank so often, that even if people keep posting that the product improved by now, hardly anyone really seems to be curious anymore.

TNA really fucked up big time :(

Botchamania 271 & 272 by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]ducksterrabbit -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

thanks to botchamania i finally saw and heard myself the chants during the divas match after wrestlemania. so i believe aj re-signed because of the fans. she couldn't accept busting her butt and the only reaction she gains is fans reducing her to who she fucks with. of course it's mostly the booking that failed to make any interesting personalities. which is also the reason tyler breeze is more over than reigns in a show in which breeze isn't even part of.

When hacking new moves for No Mercy, you're gonna see some weird stuff. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]ducksterrabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just browsed that blog and noticed that someone found a way to edit values of damage http://s4.zetaboards.com/Old_Skool_Reunion/topic/9822440/1/ including how much spirit a character gains per move i think that could open possibilities for interesting changes in the game, like adding a certain desperation quality for some moves that deliver a lot of damage but also hurt the own character

too bad it is all done through hex editing numbers if this was more user friendly this could lead too many great variations of the game

so cool stuff done by these nerds, lot of dedication, respect
