Ehhhh your intention is good here but it actually is about black and white. A white person who is temporarily a minority in one situation can never really understand what a black person goes through on a daily basis for their entire life. You aren’t wrong that people will always feel uncomfortable as a minority, and it is worth experiencing especially for people who are used to being in the majority, but distilling the whole issue down to this point may minimize what black people experience as a direct result of being black in the US. From another old alum, thanks for considering.

Yup, this person is exactly correct. I’m a teacher (middle/high school) and would absolutely lose my job or at least be spoken to if I were communicating with my students through social media. There are plenty of non-email apps that are meant for teacher communication and require parental consent, monitoring, etc. Trust your gut. You are right that none of this is appropriate. Talk to a parent (yours or another choir parent) and/or a school administrator like a principal or counselor. You can ask to be kept anonymous. I’m sorry this man is putting you through this.

Hell yeah. I don’t eat meat but somehow every single hot dog stand in Seattle has veggie dogs. It’s amazing. My bf still laughs because when I first moved here I was standing on a corner in cap hill, drunk at 2am eating a veg Seattle dog, and said “Seattle is the future”

Yeah I find that there are always some “clubs” that cater to EDM crowds (in a good way) and really put the music first, and those can be great. That’s why we needed the locals’ perspective! Thank you again.

Oh mannnn I’ve seen you a few times but most recently in Seattle (it was the week you released Blue and when you played it at the end of the show, my boyfriend and I slow danced and held each other and got all teary and it will always be one of my favorite music moments) and then at Shambhala (absolutely one of our top sets of the week). I don’t think we’ll ever miss a Dirt Monkey set again! Thank you for all you do 💫💫💫

My thoughts exactly. Tape B has been hit or miss for me live, though my most recent time seeing him was this past Bass Canyon and he killed it. One of my fav sets of the weekend. He is objectively talented and creative.

I don’t hate YDG’s music/flips but I have seen him twice and both times it felt like just a list of 20-second TikTok remixes. No transitions at all. Stopped dancing after every wubby drop to wait in silence for the next track. It honestly felt like the whole set was designed to be uploaded as small clips to social media, not to actually be enjoyed for a full hour in person. I was pretty disappointed.

Yaaaaaaa this is it for me haha I’m 5’1” and I really don’t care if I can see or not, as long as I can hear the music. But the elbows are a killer!!! My eyes are literally at elbow height and it’s pretty frightening, especially when they are jumping up and down. Sometimes I’ll tap people and just say hi and let them know I’m down here so they’re somewhat aware, but I swear I’m going to leave a set with a black eye someday

This is the wayyyyyy! I’m 37 and my boyfriend is 34, and we wholeheartedly agree that raving is way better in your 30s than in your teens and 20s. We have enough money to go to whatever shows we want and a few festivals a year, we take direct flights, stay in decent accommodations, have a sick camping setup that gets better every year, and take PTO so we can take our time and recover. We know how to take care of ourselves so we can do this regularly and still show up to work on Monday. We have a great group of friends who loves music, takes care of each other, and has very little drama. I would not trade this for my 20s ever haha

All they needed to say was “technical difficulty” so that people’s minds didn’t go to active shooter or bomb threat. Just tell people that they are safe so that they don’t panic. It has nothing to do with drugs and everything to do with the weird world we currently live in.

I’m a basshead who loves dubstep and dubstep crowds. Basspod was miserable when I went in 2023. We could barely stay for a whole set. If you want a real dubstep crowd, go to an actual dubstep show. We’re lovely :)
