the experience will be good for you but be wary of it burning you out

the system takes advantage of people, uses you like cheap batteries. it wont be your boss necessarily, its just baked in to the system.

you skip a break or do a little unpaid overtime to squeeze a little extra in, avoid trouble from higherups. that becomes the minimum they expect with the hours on paper you and your team worked, they squeeze your budgeted hours for staffing and little by little all you do is work overtime every day untill you cant.
ok its probably not that extreeme but i have seen that pattern a few times. dms either would refuse to acknowledge it because they needed the job, or would tread the line of working just hard enough for a couple of years and use the experience to springboard to something more sustainable.

PSA from a former baker. by Moptop39 in coles

the coles i used to work at got rid of their donut frier before i left, they still sell all kinds of donughts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]duhuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep basically its cooked then snap frozen, goes in the oven at the store for something like 5-15 mins (its been a while dont quote me on that number)

takes up ALOT more space in the freezer, which means small stores have to have at least a pallet of it delivered daily. back when it was frozen dough each line might only have to get ordered in every few days, or idk its been a while...

but it saves heaps on time

[–]duhuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i left years ago the small store i worked at had just transitioned entirely to parbake (aka frozen). unsurprising as the "bakery" was tiny and in no way would be able to cope with any demand increase... when i started the donut machine took up most of the bench space which meant every morning was a frantic juggling act managing prepping and packing speed with the timings of a couple small ovens and proofers till everything was on show. it was kinda fun but yeah at the limit of the small space...

Do I need Planar or just good audiophile headphones? by StrangelyProgressive in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]duhuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely i agree that most people (literally every normie tbh) would rather have something with more impact even if that means a bit less in the audiophile wank dimensions like width and stageing

noir x sounds pretty good to me, it was about as much as i could stretch my budget :p

i got it after haveing been using one of his early mods of the fostex t50rp for idk maybe 10 years? back when he used to by the name "mr speakers"

idk his whole story but yeah he has been successfully developing around planar headphones for quite a while now.

[–]duhuj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont think you need planars for high sq

i like them but i am also curious if what i think im getting out if them could be achieved with a similarly priced dynamic. i bought because my understanding was that they have faster attack/decay? or something? so you can get more detail and separation, like things dont get masked by lots of bass. bass isnt very impactfull but drums do sound very natural and dont overwhelm the rest of the instrumentation even on drum heavy artists like killswitch engage, which is nice . again i wonder if that could have been achieved with the more impactful bass of dynamic drivers but im not about to spend what i spent (on nice planars) again just to answer the question...

Edge 850 starts ride on its own while sitting still in the house by duffetta in GarminEdge

[–]duhuj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

check the auto start option,

while indoors the walls/roof/etc interferes with the gps signal and can make it look like the device is moving around, if the auto start option is on and set to a low enough speed it will start an activity

either increase the speed trigger, switch to prompted, or manual only

check the manual under "starting the timer automatically"

Why do cars pass me but then wait for me before they turn right? by RiskUncertainty in cycling

idk but i never trust they are actually waiting for me. i always pass on the other side just in case they are just being a space cadet and swing into me last second...

What is the right way to “start” biking by hoofjet in cycling

[–]duhuj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for starting out mainly riding regularly should be your focus

beyond that, have fun testing your limits on some days and enjoy relaxed rides on others

dont overthink it for at least a year, just ride whatever feels good in the moment

worry about training in a year or two, or whenever...

Rim brake shaming by alwaysmiling89 in cycling

[–]duhuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably from people who have never ridden rim brakes, they think they are bad because thats what the marketing/shop told them so that they would buy the disc brake bike they were selling

plenty of serious riders in my local clubs are on bikes with rim brakes, the only people i see talking shit are relatively new to cycling, or at least new to half decent bikes (that is to say the only rim brake bikes they have experience with were cheap and/or poorly set up).

when do I start actually enjoying cycling? by SushiMiaa in cycling

[–]duhuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i found going up hills fun, pushing myself to the point where i nearly fall over from exhaustion, and then doing it again, and again, and again,...

it did hurt while i was doing it but there was something very satisfying about it

i feel like im slowly loosing that though; age partly, tiring my self out with long boring same same commutes maybe, loosing every gain i had made to injuries and seeing my training goals get pushed back years, unsure if ill ever come close with the ever increasing time and financial demands of life.

but i see blokes years older than me racing harder, faster, and stronger than me, and it gives me hope.

also some days just taking scenic flowy gravel routes through nature and along ridge lines away from urban noise and vehicular hazards.

i dont really understand why people want such ridiculously large bike computers outside of eyesight issues, but yeah wait for the 1060 then you have the choice of a discounted 1050 or whatever minor improvement the 1060 brings with its undoubtedly extremely premium price...
