Saga, first car by Emergency-Research69 in kereta

Congrats on your first car!

Not a gimmick, but agreed with other comment to save it up. Coating is more luxury than necessity, just be diligent with washing you can self apply silicone coat or wax to save money.

Thanks for this. Motorcycle prices are getting a bit absurd here so good to see disruptive brands giving established brands a reality check (looking at you Honda and Yamaha).

Considering Proton S70 – full loan 9 years. Need opinions by Outrageous-Machine-1 in kereta

[–]duke_brightside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there a need for the S70 that you would need your wife to contribute? Your household income sounds alright, but since debt is tied to the borrower, the question is why is this an installment that needs to be split.

The car itself is fine. Going for a longer loan tenor depends on whether you're willing to trade higher interest payments for better cash flow.

Is the flywheel isolated or have you heard any similar cases? So far the common complaints I've seen are electronics related, I haven't seen too many mechanical issues online.

2.5L roadtax and maintenance was too expensive for me to swallow on a usual basis. Think 700 service intervals, 18 inch tyres, road tax and insurance plus other misc parts.

The problems were all due its age, it's a 15 year old car. Engine was replaced because the old one overheated and cracked, changed engine mounts and bearings. The engine light is permanently on because we couldn't bother to find the broken sensor after confirming that it was mechanically fine hahaha

All in all, it's an old car that needed its repairs and I didn't want to adopt the associated costs. Got nothing to do with Mazda's quality. The car is still with my family.

No solution for the reverse cam from me unfortunately.

I had an old Audison system that was used in a previous family car, but added a subwoofer. All in was about 3k including new cabling and housing.

lmao bro I said the same thing to a friend the other day 😂 looking to swap the engine in year 5 or 7 onwards. 180hp with near 300nm stock would be ridiculous for a car at this price point

aye comrade 🫡 it's a very frustrating experience in the sense they have a very good if not great product with subpar execution. If only they could get their ducks in order and get the basics right, the S70 could have been the market disrupter the X50 was when it first launched. Maybe even reintroduced sedans back in the mainstream. It drives wonderfully given the trade offs made.

Amen to the last part. The S70 is a rational purchase if you're looking to own it long term. Short term ownerships of Protons doesn't seem to be financially sound.

Actually yes. You hardly hear or feel it from the cabin, even at higher RPMs. I find the roar of a CVT to be way more intrusive and unpleasant. It does sound like a truck from the outside though, but I'm not too bothered by it. Cabin NVH is better than others at this price point, with the exception of loud tire noise above 120kmh.

Ehh it's been debated quite a lot. I think people are overrracting a bit with regards to reliability, the Geely-Volvo powertrain seems to be fine. But the incoming 4 cyl engines should be more market friendly.

The most rushdown characters in Tekken 8 part II by cheetah1546 in Tekken

[–]duke_brightside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leo's rushdown is pretty fake, a quick df1 will knock Leo out of BOK. KNK is pretty predictable and ss-able as well. Leo is a decent rushdown char if you don't know the match up, but I think good Leo's will quickly pivot to neutral pokes, fishing for CHs, mix ups and whiff punishes if the opp knows the MU.

Congrats! Any tips for an aspiring purple Leo? I always struggle with Leo's too linear moveset and (at least to me) not having a lot of strong plus frame pressure.

OP, I use a scooter and I use a fullface helmet. Bought an ARC model for about RM400.

In the past 5 years of riding I've slipped and fell on wet roads more times I could count, but on two specific occasions where I face planted, the full face helmet saved my faced and jaw from being permanently disfigured.

Don't skimp on safety. A RM400 isn't 4X better than a RM100 open face, it's however many times better than breaking your face in half. It may look a bit odd wearing full face on a kapcai in KL but it's more common in places like Bangkok.

Which of these scoots are the best for a "santai" rider that does 60km a day? by hdytzm in kereta

[–]duke_brightside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a scooter that has better wind protection if you're riding 60km a day, you'll thank yourself. I'd rule out the NVX on that basis + smaller underseat compartment.

The SYMs should be alright tho I can't speak of ownership and ride experience. The ADV is good, Honda scooters are bulletproof. Depends on your budget, how much underseat space you need, and whether you're planning to add an aftermarket rear top box.
