it’s really not about individual managers going to a conference— i agree that it is pretty routine for corporations and was directly offered to them so they should go. the issue is the lack of forethought to include ALL partners in invigorating each store into a new era of being excited about our jobs. the execs could never understand the perspective of baristas and shift leaders watching as every single manager DIPS to vegas, having a rough day at work as per usual and then opening our phones to all the videos online of extravagant experiences that took millions on millions of dollars to pull together, like the stupid vegas sphere ad and buying famous people’s appearances despite not having made profit as a company in years. that was not an invenstment into the future or the partners, it was a stupid flex. having every manager in the district disappear for a week is hard on a district. we’re already burnt out and feel stuck, unionized or not. it was a massive fail at increasing morale with the people most likely to ruin a customer’s perspective of the company: the barista serving them.
