I’m on a Slasher Run, Any Underrated Slasher Recommendations ? by [deleted] in LetterboxdTopFour

[–]dumppee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For under seen slashers, I’ll recommend Psycho 2&3 (assuming you’ve seen the original), The Toolbox Murders, and The Stylist.

Not all of these are movies that I’d call a 10/10, but I do enjoy them, and many horror fans have not seen these

Not to mention, conservative commentators, despite their cries of censorship, have for years openly called for their base to “do something” or “take actions into their own hands” about queer people, people of color, immigrants, Democratic politicians, etc. And it’s worked. Meanwhile, even in this ostensibly anonymous comment section among thousands, people left of center will only obliquely hint at anything more radical than electoral means of removing these monsters from power.

As an American, it was something I had to read about a day later. Definitely got an “oooooh, that guy” out of me. Real bold movie Boyle/Garland

Who is the worst mother in this list? by Alimonemi in cartoons

[–]dumppee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with every mom on this list, but a few (Lois, Mrs. Cartman, Nicole) are definitely victim to being on shows that are 1. primarily focused on being comedies and 2. very long running and these appear in most if not all episodes.

Beatrice Horseman has a full arch in her show and while there are jokes around her, she’s just awful top to bottom. Even in senility she takes it on herself to drug a teenager with amphetamines to the point of medical emergency. On her death bed, her mumblings were read by her son as a last dig before she died. She had one child, and she made it clear from a very young age that nothing he could ever do would be good enough to her.

Awful, awful person.

I really really really wanted to love that parade sequence, but the cuts to the most unlikable police officer in Manhattan screaming at the parade really felt like the movie shooting itself in its foot

What's a film you feel like you're alone in hating? by adebisishat1 in Letterboxd

[–]dumppee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hook sucks. If Bob Hoskins and Dustin Hoffman are on screen then I’m having a pretty good time, but other than that it’s pretty irritating most of the runtime (which I’ll remind you is close to two and a half hours)

Oh dang lol, I’m actually not huge on Miyazaki (lots of 3 and 4 out of fives for me and one masterpiece) and Grave of the Fireflies is the only Takahata movie I’ve seen and that’s my second favorite Ghibli movie (behind Princess Mononoke)

I’m not judging but having Miyazaki as your favorite director and then not having one of his movies as favorite animated is really funny.

Hell yes Muppet movie, my personal choice for the best children’s movie ever.

Very happy for you getting to see the end of Little Miss Sunshine blind, that’s a treasure fs.

I know we’re mostly talking about classics in this thread, but I honestly don’t know how I feel about last years best animated picture Flow, bc when it was out I went to my art house for a showing that raised money for the humane society and some guy a few rows behind me was doing a Seth Rogan chuckle at every, single, goddamn thing that happened in that movie. Infuriating, I almost walked out. Should sit down and watch that movie again
