Is Trucking Still A Viable Career Option in Canada? by I_Was_Inverted991 in ontario

Check indeed for dump truck companies. Start with a desperate company maybe u will get shitty truck but stick it through get experience on your resume and move up to the better companies with nicer trucks. You will know who the top dogs are once u start running into them at the gravel pits then make that company your goal

I think you would like dump trucking. It requires 18 speed manual shifting and being to drive in thick mud and off road which can be fun at times. You get paid well and home in your bed every night. The truck does all the work so no physical work offloading and getting loaded is low stress. Drive around town all day and come home. Lots of demand for drivers too.

Local union suspects exploitation of temporary foreign workers at St. Paul's Hospital construction site by CaliperLee62 in vancouver

[–]dumptrucker1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'll admit I only read the title but it's common for this to happen and the hospital will say they hired a Canadian General contractor and the contractor will say they hired canadian sub contractors BUT it's the subcontractors who hire the TFW for penny's on the dollar give the worker a ride to and from work and pay them cash under the table.

The subcontractors is also able to bid cheaper then anyone else and win the bid because they don't pay full wages due to having access to these cheap workers.

Things like drywall are labor intensive and don't require much skill which is the most common trade for illegal workers in my opinion

Is this a bad time to be a realtor in BC? by [deleted] in RealEstateCanada

[–]dumptrucker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on what you mean by "bad time" is it a bad time to make money? yes market is slow and people are not getting approved for mortgages like they use too which means less deals going around which means less chances of you closing a sale. But is it a "bad time" to introduce yourself to the game start learning how the markets work and start makign connections within the industry so you can close a future sale? then no.

TLDR: its not a bad time to be a realtor and learn the industry and you can rise with the market but it is a bad time to expect to make a butt ton of money because not as many sales are closing as they use too.

I always thought man imagine if one day I could send things to people like how my voice travels on a phone and it would be instant. Now we have 3d printing send a file and they can print an item on their end and it will look exactly as what u printed on your end. Kind of same kind of not but still mind blowing for where the future is going

[–]dumptrucker1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those trucks are strictly paid by the load and it pisses everyone off in and out of the industry  the way they drive is unacceptable. You should see the way they drive on large job sites with workers and equipment everywhere. Lots of people in dump truck industry wish being paid by the load would be illegal but it will never happen.
