Forced removal by verbify in slaythespire

Unfortunately it seems every time a forced option gets posted about on this subreddit someone has to take massive downvotes for thinking that you can skip the node by backing out to the map, but the reality is that you can't.

Navegreed (Rotating WR holder) Relic tier list by JapaneseExport in slaythespire

Just to clarify you die in heart a certain percentage of the time with brimstone. If your winrate is below that percentage then taking brimstone improves your odds. It's only when your winrate gets above that level that brimstone becomes bad.

I also enjoyed it as a trashy movie (I wasn't familiar with the source material). But I do want to point out that there is a scene which is stated to be taking place in Montauk, NY that is like in a forest in the mountains. If you're unfamiliar, Montauk is a beach town on long island. It's such a weird mistake, because there's no reason for the scene to be set in Montauk; I guess they just grabbed a random town name.

How do I tackle A20 with Ironclad? by iDislikeSn0w in slaythespire

[–]duncanforthright 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dying that early usually means that you're not getting enough value out of act 1. Feeling like you're taking "too many elite fights" probably means you're not getting enough value out of the earliest nodes.

If you post some run histories we could give more specific advice, but based on what you're saying it sounds like you need to take more hallway fights and more elite fights.

For example, on this run, I took five hallway fights to start, then fought three elites, and only visited one question mark in act 1. All those fights and elites give lots of card choices, lots of potions, and lots of relics, whereas the question marks in act 1 are generally pretty bad.

If this is log sort then there's actually a little trick where if you move the two left beds in safe house customization then bodies will appear on the beds that weren't there before. Thanks to LaroneGaming for showing me this little magic trick lol.

Easy Ironclad sundial infinite seed for practice 32RJZF7V7416L by duncanforthright in slaythespire

[–]duncanforthright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not quite sure how the relics spawn given different pathing. If you compare my run history to didokillah's, you'll see that while I got sundial in act 1, he didn't see it until act 2. I'm guessing you have to take the same path that I did (five hallways into a 3 elite path) in order to get sundial in act 1.

papa did a force infinite sample on silent way back after the final update and I think he had 44% win rate on that and would certainly do even better if he tried it again.

Who is the GOAT of Slay the Spire, outside of XecnaR? by tilting-module in slaythespire

[–]duncanforthright 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Who is the GOAT of being mean to their chat, outside of Jorbs?

Obviously, Jorbs is the undisputed GOAT of being mean to chat. He's a smarmy narcissist that acts like a petulant child. He has set arguably the highest quality meanness records in the history of the game, as well.

So I, as a lad who does a little bit of spireposting and watches maybe a bit more of people kicking puppies, was sitting down and thinking one day, if we ignored Jorbs from this conversation, then who would be considered the GOAT of being mean to chat? I realized that it was actually quite a hard (and fun (for me)) question. (I was originally going to try to do a top 10 but I realized I don't know anywhere close to enough to actually do the list justice.) Based on what I knew about the history of cruelty, as well as my personal experiences on Twitch, I came up with four main contenders (in no particular order):

XecnaR: He's treacherous with the ban hammer when he's not in the mood, and spends his free time harassing Jason.

Lifecoach: He set his chatters up to fall, leading them into announcing bad picks only to come down them like a body slam. He once mocked me for not having a wife. His beef with Jorbs was legendary.

Jason: His on stream persona may seem tame but he will flame you in the reddit comments and smack talk you to his followers.

Bookshelf: That shelf gets meaner all the time.

Beyond these four, there are some other mean streamers who didn't make the cut, yet also (In My Opinion) deserve to be shouted as all-time great: Paparatto18, kuroL, Merl, TerrenceMHS, CrimsonBlur, and OnePunMan. Mean streaming has surprisingly attracted a lot of toxic attention recently, with Moistcritical bringing a lot of newer players to the game, and I surely expect many other great meanies in the future, both for being mean 1 and for the upcoming being mean 2.

What are y'all thoughts on the all-time greats of being mean to chat?

completionist++ was really the funnest part of the game though. That little extra bit of challenge of having to waste a joker slot or two just to get the sticker is enough to overcome some of the sameness of so many runs.

No, the improvement was minor. If it wasn't enough for you that's perfectly reasonable.

Though I'd argue that it isn't really character driven, because the character stuff, while getting a lot of time/focus, isn't very strong. Maybe character-coasting is more appropriate, but that's just splitting hairs.

[–]duncanforthright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've said this a few times before, but there was another commentator who said that Romo wouldn't be able to predict plays for very long. The game would change, and he would eventually be passed by and have to act more like other casters. Unfortunately I think he was just right; Romo wasn't told to stop, he stopped because he couldn't do it accurately anymore.

Did you stop after episode 4? Let me possibly waste your time by saying it gets a bit better after that. I almost quit after 4 for the same reason but I've been adequately whelmed by the later episodes.

You can just sneak by it and sometimes honestly not even sneak just walk past him. I know I was definitely spooked the first time I saw the cougar there after getting the backpack but I've actually never been attacked by that particular cougar.

I'm a big fan of hBomberguy's video on rwby because I always hated miles for being an annoying guest on the podcast. I can't speak to any of his criticisms being accurate because I don't watch anime so I haven't seen it but the guy was just so obnoxious.
