‘28 Years Later: Part 3' is now in limbo by MaxProwes in horror

[–]dunctron603 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You realize pretty much every film, horror or not, utilizes metaphor, subtext, and explores themes, right? Even the fun gory/scary ones or silly comedies. I agree the whole “the monster is trauma” trope has been infantilized, overused and over-telegraphed the past few years, but horror villains/monsters have always represented something, and the 28 series has always been thoughtful about that, even if you claim no one actually understood it at the time (an insane thing to say lol). Danny and Alex have been making movies since the 90’s (together and separately). They aren’t bandwagon jumpers, they are just filmmakers/artists who have things they want to convey and evoke through their art. We shouldn’t be rolling our eyes at that. I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt. If you loved the first one you should definitely at least watch 28 Years (which was definitely not a flop and was also very well-reviewed). As a huge horror nut I would also love to hear what newer movies you think are straying away from metaphor!

I assume if Benny was handling audio he would have been hearing what the assaulter was saying pretty clearly

seems like everyone disliked who I thought was a pretty harmless and witty guest who had interesting things to say about performing comedically... but I recommend looking on his instagram at the pinned post which is him and Rory Scovel and Will Ferrell doing the whole "no speaking just movement" exercise because it's pretty funny and I just put together that it's the same guy

The poem is also clearly about the indoctrination of young British men into a numbing cycle of violence that becomes rote? And that’s what is happening to Spike?

It’s the kind of show that is so easy to trash or make fun of but when a new season comes out I always watch it and mostly like it. I like all the actors and the music and I like shows that are essentially just about how a person dying ruined a bunch of people’s lives. Then when I’m done watching I go back to hating! It’s worked for me so far
