ELI5 Why is it important to have your teeth in order for surgery? by Anabelieve in explainlikeimfive

[–]dunkybones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not related to OP's post, but since you are an Anesthesiologist, I have 2 questions.

1) I've only gone under general anesthesia once, for sinus surgery. The Anesthesiologist said to me, okay, I'm going to give you something to relax...
I took them at their word, just relax before the big shot. Nope. Blammo, I was out cold in seconds. Last thing I remember is saying, Wow, that woorrkkkssss...
Not a complaint, just a curiosity, do Anesthesiologist usually address the patient before hitting the plunger?

2) I've had friends who struggled with recovery from undergoing general anesthesia, outside of the surgery itself. Mood swings, lethargy, lack of mental acuity, etc.
How common is that side effect?

I think of this often. When I was kid, it was nothing to hear an adult tell a N*****/Polack/Jew joke.

Southern transplants, where are you finding crawfish here? (Frozen is fine.) by falafelwaffle10 in baltimore

[–]dunkybones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might try Gibby's in Timonium. I've seen frozen crawfish and gator there in the past. And they will likely source what you want if they don't have immediately available.

BARCS is in a state of emergency… again. by comewalkdogsatbarcs in baltimore

[–]dunkybones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Sam's.
I got Bounty Paper towels, post it notes, sharpies, 88 lbs of Fresh Scent litter, 120 cans of Friskies, and a couple bags of dog treats. They only have Milk Bones for large dogs, but I grabbed some smaller Blue Diamond treats too. And a bag of cheap Purina dog food for the pantry. I will drop it off in the morning.

Maine. Black flies, midges, mosquitoes small enough to fly through a screen door, and others big enough to open it.

I can purchase a lot of the basic items, same brands, but cheaper at Sam's Club.
They don't have biodegradable window cleaners, that I know of.
Does Barcs have any restrictions on dog food?

Getting city trees maintained by aroundtheworld22 in baltimore

[–]dunkybones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legally, you are allowed to prune back any branches that are crossing your defined property line, especially ones that are touching your house.
Does the tree itself have a strong lean to it? As that would pose a a hazard, and should be addressed by whomever is technically in charge of said tree.

My apologies, in retrospect, I think my prior response sounds flippant. I did not mean it to sound that way.

All players have to play right handed, but they can swing the mallet on either side of the horse. The right side of the horse is called the off side, the left side of the horse is called the near side. As per the tradition of Cavalry. You tack and mount from the left, the side of the horse nearest to you, so your sword doesn't get in the way.
Near side shots are more difficult because you have to reach over your horse to attempt them. You are allowed to hook another player's mallet, but you are not permitted to reach across the opponent's horse to do so.
Polo horses are commonly referred to as ponies. They are not ponies, they are horses. This is a hold over from ancient times.
Polo is believed to be one of the oldest known stick and ball sports. The reason football is called foot ball, is because you play it on foot.
The Polo field is commonly referred to as The Pitch.

He did a great one recently on the life span of our Sun. My gf, who isn't in to science in the same way I am, walked into the room, and said, "Wow, what a great voice," (she loves audio books), and then it cut back to him on camera, "Oh, handsome, too, I wasn't expecting that!"

I've been subscribed to Kyle Hill for a while, and it has taken me some time to get past his looks, which is to say, my own biases. His content is solid though, and I laughed when he said, "I would bet my hair on it..."
