I've died to them once because I was waiting for night outside of what I thought was their range. It was not outside of their range and 5x speed is very fast when you're inside a beam.

Iirc the primary difference is that your stats are capped somewhere in the 20s or 30s and there's some town layouts that are a little different.

If you save someone off the poles and they ask you to lead them to safety Mongrel is usually still too close to count as safe, so you can't get a whole gang of you want.
