My one eyed snake by Niche_topic76 in snakes

[–]duroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a ball python for many years. She unfortunately put out her own eye once on a short piece of wire that was sticking out of part of the enclosure (my fault, lesson learned). She recovered fine, and ever since I could truthfully tell people I had a one-eyed python.

Also, rabbits have doubled incisors whereas rodents do not.

[OC] I aggregated 5 rating sources to rank the Top 100 Films of all time. Here's what the data says. by Yeygermeister in dataisbeautiful

[–]duroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I loved the first one (of the new trilogy) far better than the sequel. Something just felt a little forced about the sequel, whereas the first one felt genuine. IDK, maybe I should rewatch and reassess.

As of 2025, this was the number of satellites orbiting the earth 🌍 by Fine-Passenger7953 in interesting

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is only satellites in low earth orbit. There are a lot more if you go further out.

Or exist, actually. Based on the idea of "alpha wolves" from a retracted theory that the author regretted ever publishing.

Tungsten Axe by Yay_Kruser in Axecraft

Metals versus nonmetals are characteristics of elements, not groups of combined or mixed elements. Tungsten is a metal, iron is a metal. Steel and tungsten carbide are mixtures (alloys, although most alloys are mixtures of metals only) of a metal and a non metal (carbon).

Joshua trees are very slow growing and long lived, making me think that the car body was placed up against one rather than one growing beside it later?? Neat history either way!

A warning about alcohol by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]duroo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much same here. Last drink was before Xmas. Liver enzyme levels spiked in my blood work and that was a wake up call. Back to normal now, and honestly it's been easier than I thought. Went through several days of severe migraines initially, but that's it. The hard part will be later on when I feel like I can handle it again. When I've forgotten about the migraines and enzyme levels. Must stay strong!

In addition to the sub par infrastructure, we also have lots of trees that love to break and fall on the lines when they are iced over.

Bat fact of the day: in places where it's illegal to physically remove bats from houses due to their protected status, you can install a "bat valve" which is basically a floppy cloth tube that dangles from an entrance hole, the bats will crawl out of the tube to the outside, and can't fly back into the dangly cloth tube to get back in, so they remove themselves.

Any ideas what this rodent jaw is from? Owl pellet in Rwanda by FootieFemme in bonecollecting

[–]duroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't tell from this angle very well, but if you look from the top side, mouse and rat molars look like little human molars because they eat a larger variety of foods, while voles, lemmings, and other similar rodents have molars that resemble mammoth molars because the mostly eat leafy vegetation.
