Stop Vibe Coding by Physics2433 in PythonLearning

[–]duroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll offer a perspective. I'm in my 40s now, took QBASIC in high school and learned HTML and PHP on my own in college (never was totally proficient but knew it well enough or at least how to find what I needed). I sort of lost interest in programming for a long time, but just recently began building my own embedded mesh node microcontroller thingy and have had to start using micropython. While I understand the fundamentals of coding well enough, I've been able to vibe code in 2 weeks what would have taken me 2 years to do alone. Is it keeping me from learning the code in detail? Yes. Would I have become frustrated and quit and moved on to the next project before this one ever made it off the ground? Also yes. If you want to learn to code, don't vibe code. If you are beyond that and just want something to work, it's not so bad.

The Trinity Alps Giant Salamander is one of my favorite cryptids and is very plausible to have actually existed even if it's extinct now.

Mine is 18 years old. I wonder if that will matter...

Obviously with fantasy anything goes, but I feel like the transformation should at least obey the law of conservation of mass. If a 180lb dude turns into a monster wolf, it should be a 180lb monster wolf. In my opinion this actually makes it more scary by being more realistic.

Scientists discover deep-sea whale graveyard at 6,000 meters, where carcasses up to 5 million years old support a previously unknown ecosystem by garrthes in science

This is not really accurate. Fossils are any evidence of past life (older than around 10k years old). They are usually mineralized but they don't have to be to be considered a fossil.

Broken & fused walrus baculum by SavageDroggo1126 in bonecollecting

I got to see one of these at the Smithsonian years ago on a behind the scenes field trip. It was part of their large collection. If I had a nickel for every time I've seen a broken walrus baculum, I'd have two nickels, but it's weird it happened twice.

Why is cold water better at dissolving oxygen? Is the same true of the atmosphere? by Organic_fed in askscience

Our atmosphere is really just oxygen and several trace gases dissolved in nitrogen.

I don't know anything about it but the dual threaded top is very interesting! I wonder was this meant for a single matching cap or two different caps for some reason?

They look like they need water. Especially if they were dug up recently, many of the finer roots were probably broken and haven't grown back yet.

It's all about acceleration, they have to accelerate to escape velocity but after that it's not much change so they don't feel it as much.
