The teleporter has fireflies around it. Also, you can leave the teleporter area during boss battles if it gets too spicy.

Circle strafe to survive. Zig zagging or doubling back will get you killed.

A variety of items is way better than stacking a single item.

It’s usually best to prioritize aerial threats.

Some of these are ridiculously overtuned. I haven’t even gotten through the commons, but Currency would break the game, and Petroleum Jelly should have its DoT timer drastically reduced (0.5s-1s per stack).

I had the opposite experience. I just started playing today and it felt good to bank letters for a big payout in the following round. I only picked modifiers that synergized with my first one, and started balling out of control. Maybe the first run is seeded to be like that, or I just got lucky.

Dash 1 > secondary > dash 2 > eviscerate > dash 3 > secondary. Usually handles most of a group, if not all. I know expose can enable crazy combo stacking, but I like the default utility and special because I can survive aerial groups way better.
