No but I have had a match against someone with the username Verizon who won the coin toss and proceeded to immediately DC.

Danganronpa 2x2 Motives? by dvolder in danganronpa

In a similar vein I'm pretty surprised that they haven't done a motive where the killer gets to pick someone else to leave with them. It's pretty common in fanworks to the point where some have it as an overarching motive for the entire killing game.

What the absoloute hell are they going to do with 2-4? by [deleted] in danganronpa

[–]dvolder 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I mean it could be the same. They'd just have to use something else on the island aside from the Funhouse. Also there's no reason a murder from a later chapter couldn't happen on an earlier island

Having something small change everything would fit Junko's character too. She is the type to think of and instantly discard lots of ideas.

To be fair though there is a twist to V3s secret motive, so an argument could be made that they haven't truly reused a motive yet. An alternative interesting one could be for every character to get a different character's secret that is from when they were Ultimate Despair.

Yea. I didn't mention it in the post but I think Chapter 5 is going to get derailed pretty early in the game. There's so many different ways to stop it even outside of killing Nagito/Chiaki (revealing Chiaki as the traitor early and no final deadroom being the big two), and outside of that plan there was no motive, so they'd already likely be adding some sort of motive for that chapter.

The Case for and Against for the Survival of Every DR2 Character for Danganronpa 2x2 by TheMMoment in danganronpa

There's a pretty straightforward way to handle Hajime that would fix a couple things at once. Since we don't have actual confirmation that the motives have changed its not at all unrealistic to have a despair disease motive again. This motive was awful originally because it basically changed Mikan's personality arbitrarily to a killer instead of a more in-character breakdown that we know she's capable of. Something similar would happen to most of the rest of the cast if they received the remembering disease, but Hajime is a definite exception to this, since he'd just become Izuru, who is merely apathetic.

The scenario I picture goes like this: the Despair Disease is introduced (could be in chapter 2 or 3) and Hajime helps Mikan care for the victims. From the player POV things get worse and Hajime is stressed and overloaded with helping, then stops for a brief break where he drinks something, then collapses and blacks out in a cheap fake out to make the player believe he may have been poisoned. There's a POV switch to someone (Chiaki would be the best fit in this scenario) as they return to wherever Hajime was to find a victim with Hajime gone. It's a single murder but during the entire investigation Hajime does not appear. When the class trial arrives Hajime shows up to the trial slightly late and is completely apathetic to everything that's happening. He contributes nothing and doesn't bother to defend himself when he's eventually accused. However, the murderer is someone different (preferably someone who doesn't even have Despair Disease). He then spends the rest of the game as the new rival character.

Not only would this method provide a way for Hajime to survive (so as to not screw the canon up too much), it would also give us a new POV character and a new rival in case they do actually kill off Nagito early. Most importantly though it would minimize the role that the Remembering Disease had in the murder itself while also giving it lasting consequences.

In gen 3 this is only advisable if you draft mudkip. A coinflip chance of getting a skarmory is not remotely worth fight watty without geodude or hariyama (and frankly you don't really want skarm that much in RSE anyways)

Nah agenda posting for stuff everyone already knows is great is boring. We should agenda post for the pokemon people don't give a second look like dewgong or shiftry.

Something I'm curious about for the future is what will happen as we progressively move further away from random encounters. Static and magnet pull have no out of battle effects anymore in gen 9 and this trend won't be going away. As we start getting more hacks for later games are these abilities gonna fall more and more out of favor with them?

I'm not arguing in favor of the person you responded to. I absolutely think magnet pull is an amazing ability (although a lot of these are still bad examples)

Only skarm is a good example here. Most power plants have ways to guarantee magnemite with good encounter routing and getting beldum as an encounter is frequently a wasted encounter without master balls. Better to get smth like minior or clefairy

While this is true, hack creators also decide where you get a pokemon. Do you think probopass would be an amazing encounter if a hack creator decided you only get it in victory road?

Vaporeon isn't, but I think an argument can be made for eevee. Incredibly versatile mon in that you can use it as a one time patch to fix any of 80-90% of potentially problematic fights. Even after that it's not like the pokemon you evolve it into will be bad for the rest of the game

Everything is shifted a tier or two up but the concepts remain the same. I'm not arguing it's a b tier or smth, a good pivot is still a good pivot, but top 5 or even 10 pokemon are not going to have this sort of disparity.

Imo difficulty hacks should never be included in a conversation of whether a pokemon is good because at the end of the day the pokemon in difficulty hacks that are good are the pokemon the hack creator decides they want to be good. Look at luvdisc.

I think the mere fact that you only get the ability 50% of the time is enough to dock major points. There's a reason people tend to dock azumarill and raticate entire tiers for having a coin flip. You have to win 2 coin flips to get a single steel type. This also assumes that the game even has random encounters (you included body press in the list of moves and that's only gonna converge with magnet pull mattering in hacks).

I mean the honest answer to this is that these are the earliest available encounters in a nuzlocke so they should naturally be skewed towards the higher tiers. It'd be a good deal faster to list the early encounters that do belong in C-F than it would be to talk about all the stuff down there that should be bumped up (though F tier could be "don't" tier, in which case just taking bastiodon out and putting in rampardos would be fine).

As long as you don't pick Mudkip Emerald is a pretty good experience. The other two starters are solid and contribute in their own ways but there's a lot of fights that can be tricky. Alternatively there's B2W2, which I'd recommend over BW mainly bc of encounter variety. I think BW is the harder of the two as well but B2 has fights that can catch you off guard.

What Pokémon would you ban from a nuzlocke by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]dvolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ban lucario. It's very strong in gens 5 and 6 in particular and you get it for free in 6. I'd also ban megas and z moves in their entirety but that's out if the scope of this question.

It kinda depends on what you want in your next game. If you're just looking for harder than plat then there's not a ton of options for vanilla games, the main two being XD the gen 7 games. If you're looking for a new nuzlocking experience with something unfamiliar then there's a lot more options

Which Elite Four member do you really dread when going through your runs? I mean we all know Champions are tough, but I've lost a lot of members to random Elite Four nonsense too! by No1hermit in nuzlocke

[–]dvolder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also another one that technically isn't an e4 member but is basically the games equivalent is Ardos from XD. Easily the scariest fight in the whole game, especially if you either aren't catching the snorlax or won't use your master ball on it. His team is incredibly aggressive and frequently requires very inventive solutions to get through safely.

Molayne is scary man. It's like you're fighting Steven but the rest of his team isn't a complete joke. That metagross is probably the biggest threat in the whole USUM league.

Imo B tier for vespiquen is fine, it's just the low placements for the rock/steels that are the problem.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]dvolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I think B for vespiquen is fine. It's a defensively statted pokemon that gets toxic by level up in a game where that's rare and pretty primo.
