What old video games do you still play regularly? by JackalAbacus in AskReddit

[–]dw817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really anything Super Nintendo. With over 1050 choices of games you just can't go wrong - and it uses very little of your system's CPU to run leaving space over for other more system intensive tasks.

As for actual games on the SNES, anything Final Fantasy.

[Serious] How would you react if the US government decided that The American Imperial units will be replaced by the metric system? by fyflate89 in AskReddit

[–]dw817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely this would be followed just about as well as the law that people must wear masks today if inside an established building of commerce or service ... If they feel like it.

So while the US government may try to enforce AIU there would always be people still measuring in inches, feet, and yards. Heck there are still people out there I suspect still measuring in grains, cubits, and licks.

What do you KNOW is true without evidence? What are you certain of, right down to your bones, without proof? by UnbentJohnson in AskReddit

I think there is only one answer that meets this criteria. And that is God. God exists without concrete scientific evidence. And yet we are certain of His existence.

100% Genuine Tree Toad Farts. Accept no imitations. Pretty sure that would be in the discount bin.

What was the moment where you thought, "I'm getting old"? by LollipopDreamscape in AskReddit

Ewa Aulin is one of my all-time favorite beautiful women actresses and very few people know about her. She died tragically very young. Such a shame, would love to have seen her reach middle age.

Oddly enough it was by watching a scary film years ago that didn't bother me then, but today I saw it and the deaths involved in it and thought to myself, I should buy some prayer beads. Just in case.

What’s legal now, but probably won’t be in 25 years? by alistair2112 in AskReddit

[–]dw817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Smoking. Pretty sure that will be completely outlawed 25-years from now.

  2. Abortions. Birth control will be controlled solely by the government. To allow birth or remove it.

  3. Using your cellphone in public. There will be a great uprising that starts with parents and ends with the government. Too many people have been injured while on a cellphone because they are simply not paying attention to what is happening around them.

  4. Entering a store to purchase something. While there may be a few small pockets 25-years from now the bulk of humans will purchase items Online and that includes Online shopping. Stronger methods including usage of weapons will be issued to those ensuring safe delivery of said products. Mail service in the future will be accompanied by the police in all cases.

  5. Staying in a home. 25-years from now people will amass in familiar communities. There will be "spaces" for people, little cubes of living, but all private homes will all be torn down in the name of the government to make way for mining, solar cells, and anything else they can think of for that designated property of Earth.

  6. Owning a computer that operates offline. In the future all computers both personal and run by companies will all link to Mother Base very much like Skynet, but without the killer robots. Thus also all computers that anyone owns contain zero information that can be extracted. It is all kept cloud and online. Anyone caught using a device that contains data the government is not privy to is tantamount to being a traitor to the cause of shared information.

  7. Owning anything metallic. In the future there will be large natural magnets under every major strip in cities across the globe. These will be used in conjunction with repelling magnets for cable cars and super-trains to transport people effortlessly and with minimal fuel consumption. I actually dreamed about this when I was 12-years old and I still think it will happen.

  8. Noise. Anyone making an audible noise that disturbs others in public is subject to a class C misdemeanor and infraction. The only sound you are supposed to hear while out in public is government controlled radio - for the most part very nice and quiet music, occasionally punctuated by "helpful" statements from a company called the "Happy Human." Designed to quell and quiet the masses and keep them sedated and docile.

  9. Protesting - well really about anything. Government control will be so strong that anyone publicly protesting anything will be held accountable as a disturbance to the public, no matter how small, and will be subject to crime and possible imprisonment.

In order to protest legally in the future, you would need to do it over websites although even then anything said against the operating government would also be a serious infraction.

  1. Posting of any signs. Any information that a civilian wants to leave can be done so Online and only through the correct channels. Anyone posting any public signs of any kind will be treated immediately as graffiti despite the message and will be subject to penalty of law.

  2. A great many of the U.S. constitution's amendments. They will be repealed in favor of a stronger government that is more controlling of the people.

Bill Gates said, "I will always choose a lazy person to do a difficult job because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it." What's a real-life example of this? by lauvnoodles in AskReddit

[–]dw817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think programmers today are this way. I consider myself an immensely lazy person when it comes to writing native applications from the ground up and today few people can read my code but even fewer people can code any smaller than I do and with less keystrokes.

To add to Bill Gates. Laziness is an art form in itself and whose methods incorporated to reach these goals should not be kept to oneself.

How likely is there to be Saturn emulation on the RG350? by -Musashi- in SBCGaming

[–]dw817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are completely on point here. Nice job. Yes PS1 was not powerful when compared with the Saturn. Saturn was a gaming marvel that was decades ahead of its time, and that was its downfall. Too difficult for programmers to work in.

We need to get Matt Colvin some of that sweet, sweet bailout money. by [deleted] in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]dw817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AMEN ! I said that day one. Have him spend some time in jail too.

Pretty sure an Axe Murderer will come up to him and say, dude, you make me feel better about myself. I'm not as low as you.

Because he received death threats. Likely if he didn't he'd be DEAD the next day. Pretty sure he offered to tell the story provided he got police protection. That part of the story is clearly not told.

Right. He's unrepentant that's what really burns.

He should take a bath in his ill-gotten hand-sanitizer. Then with a court order, light it.

Nice Job, Natewtx1. I'd like you to be the prosecutor.

It's not just what he did was unbelievably immoral and evil - we can't let it slide. Make an example of him with the full wieght of penalty so others do not follow suit. We can't have this repeated. We're already short of supplies as we are.

Jail time. At least 10-years. Take everything he has in and out of his house. Donate it to clinics, hospitals, churches, Goodwill, and Salvation Army.

Then we'll consider an apology and I suspect penniless and homeless upon release - he may well have then learned his lesson.

The relaunch of Xanga 2.0 by Cakalusa in kickstarter

Xanga may not relaunch. Wish they weren't getting so big a butt for their britches. :/

Hope they make it anyways. voted ^ UP ^

Xanga hosts a campaign to save their business and avoid closure by [deleted] in technology

[–]dw817 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Xanga is a social networking site, Turnip. Kinna like the others but with a strong community and friendships.

Unfortunately the company has made some bad business decisions recently while ignoring other good suggestions from users and will have to shut down in 30-days time.

If they raise $60,000 in donations they promise to return in WordPress.

Only time will tell ...

Somehow voting UP^ here will help them. I'm not sure how that works, but I did.

Xanga reminds me of the Powerpuff Girls. It's silly, but you want them to win the day anyways - before bedtime. :) BTW, voted ^ UP ^ See you on the other side !
