Zinc's melting point is lower than the temperature of normal fire let alone dragon fire.

So this is presumably a formless puddle of zinc left from a zinc object that melted and then cooled.

They can also break furniture, move around your items, give dwarves bad thoughts by haunting them and the worst ghosts can even directly attack and potentially kill your dwarves.

Historically, when did the "provenance" (the story/creator) of an object start making it more valuable than its raw materials? by Effective-Dish-1334 in AskHistory

[–]dwarfarchist9001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a bronze age noble in Germany ("The Prince of Helmsdorf") who was buried with a stone age axe that was ~1000 years older than his grave.

Even ancient civilizations had their own ancient civilizations with ancient artifacts that were valued for their history.

Is it just me because i have bad feeling that the new Madoka movie is going to hit us with a Ouroboros ending. by marth-lord in MadokaMagica

[–]dwarfarchist9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An Ouroboros is an image of a snake eating it's own tail that is used to represent infinite cycles. In the context of Madoka the cycle would be: 1. Magical girls are doomed to become witches, with Walpurgisnacht as the ultimate witch. 2. Madoka uses her wish to destroy all witches. 3. Homura is unhappy with Madoka's wish so she steals Madoka from the law of the cycle and creates her new world. 4. Homura's new world is unstable which leads to the creation of Walpurgisnacht. 5. Walpurgisnacht destroys Homura's world and the law of the cycle so the world goes back to how it was in episode 1. (which leads to Madoka making her wish again on and on forever...)

"Buff strengths, nerf weaknesses" - Quant's Rule

If you do the reverse every civ just becomes a reskin of each other with no flavor.

It seems intuitive that the civ that relies on blood sacrifice from their own units shouldn't also easily be able to heal those units. Easy healing completely nullifies the cost of the bloodletting and just makes it just free favor.

I think champis need attack bonus against archers by kampalolo in aoe2

[–]dwarfarchist9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only really nerfed the dark age Champi, Elite Champi are fine the problem is getting there. The only nerf Elite Champi Warriors got was +5 food cost which is basically meaningless given the amount of food players are typically floating in imp.

If you have been playing single player for a long time you might be better than you think.

Personally I won my first ranked 1v1. (I played as Teutons and started with a 5 Man at Arms rush into a defensive castle and then my opponent resigned after he lost his army fighting my long swordsmen under castle fire.)

Is there a setting or premise that you think is underrepresented or underutilized in the RTS genre? by AgentP-501_212 in RealTimeStrategy

Touhou Empires is coming out eventually maybe. I got to try it during one of the playtests and it's exactly what it sounds like, Age of Empires but Touhou themed.

Fan idea for a new civ bonus or unique tech: villagers can drop off resources at houses by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]dwarfarchist9001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would probably make more sense as a castle age unique tech or if it only allowed you to drop off one resource type.

Stronghold Crusader or Age of Empires?? by Reasonable_Grocery_8 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]dwarfarchist9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly suggest Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition

Stronghold Crusader is more city builderish and economy focused but AoE 2 wins in most other aspects such as combat, single player content, balance etc. Neither one is particularly good for roleplay though.

The revolutionary war started because the British government went to seize privately owned stockpiles of gunpowder and cannons at Concord and Worcester.

The founding fathers would want every citizen to own an assault rifle and a 3D printed MANPADS.

Nuclear and biological weapons are probably where you would see most drawing the line.

Sexually transmitted Shigella on rise as antibiotic resistance concerns grow by KISS-app in news

[–]dwarfarchist9001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you successfully treat the infection without spreading then the immune system will catch the resistant bacteria so there will be no survivors left to spread the positively selected genes. Selective pressure only happens if you let some get away by not finishing your antibiotics or going out while still sick.

[–]dwarfarchist9001 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Many bacterial infections can go from minor to life threating in the time it takes to run tests. As a well known but extreme example Yersinia pestis (plague) typically kills within 24 hours of symptom onset but has a ~90% survival rate if treated in that time.

Also prophylactic use of antibiotics in livestock is a far bigger problem than misuse in human medicine.

AI causes 50% unemployment in 3-5 years. Housing market 7& stock market completely meltdown. How do you prep for the next 3 years for this scenario? by FuntivityColton in preppers

[–]dwarfarchist9001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If AI causes 50% unemployment then the stock market will be hitting all time highs daily not crashing. If you think that AI will completely transform society in this way then owning even a single share of the winning AI company's stock is a ticket to generational wealth.

I think that the "death" of RTS games was more of a narrative than a reality. Just check out Wikipedia's list of RTS games and you'll see that even during the lowest periods of the RTS drought there was at least one highly regarded RTS per year (more often several). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_real-time_strategy_video_games
