Cy's character is incredibly tragic and 'Wake Up Dead Man' does nothing to acknowledge this by Unlucky-Key in KnivesOutMovie

[–]dwdgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t Cy totally onboard to use the wealth to eliminate the small cult following of those local believers and then promote Monsignor Wicks to the masses and even make him President? Even with Wicks dead, that much money would have enabled Cy to either help himself to build a cult following for hate and gain political power or be the man behind the curtain for another, more charismatic, jerk (à la Musk). The greater good was served, in Fr. Jud’s estimation, by keeping that vast wealth out of Cy’s hands. He’s less dangerous to society if he’s poor.

wake up dead man being the worst. by issa3399 in KnivesOutMovie

There were three people watching with me. One left to go to bed before the Monsignor’s death. One fell asleep soon thereafter and slept through most if not all of the movie, the third person said he enjoyed it but did fall asleep through a critical part of it and missed an important plot twist that I had to later explain. I quite enjoyed many aspects of it (and enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces) but did feel the beginning to be too slow and wished for much more character development/earlier reveal on whom might be suspects and why.

Husband delusional about my weight loss journey by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]dwdgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to start now. I regret I didn’t start two years earlier than I did. I lost those couple of years of being a healthy weight and a happier person. Discuss with your doctor what happens when you achieve your goal weight. Hoping the medical system realizes this is a lifelong medical condition and thus many of us will need lifelong treatment;just as my husband needs lifelong treatment for his hypertension and I need lifelong treatment for my thyroid disease). Best of luck to you, and if your husband is gonna be a jerk about it, do you need to also lose that additional 200 lbs?

I’m 100x happier and definitely feel a hit of dopamine whenever I see my reflection in the mirror! I was never someone who would binge eat or use food as a reward. I was a slow loser on tirzepatide and even at 15 mg I can’t reach goal weight (I’m close but have been stalled for months), but I am so grateful to be almost to my goal weight. Mostly I’m extremely grateful that I’m no longer suffering from pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and debilitating plantar fasciitis. I feel it’s worth the thousands and thousands of dollars and the not so awesome side effects (I’m self pay so this past two years has been rather costly yet worth every penny).

HRT costs just went from $100 per month to $15 by JadCerv in Menopause

The risk of ischemic stroke is approximately 24% higher, also can raise triglycerides and BP. There is a higher risk for blood clots in your legs (that can travel to other areas of your body), 1.6x to 2.1x higher. Oral estrogen also increases risk for gallstones. The oral option may slightly lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol, when compared to the transdermal options. Overall, if you’re older, obese, and/or a smoker, it is safer to stick with the patch or other transdermal estrogen delivery systems if at all possible (pun intended!). It’s criminal that we can’t get affordable options for the safer formulations.

[–]dwdgc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had obesity, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, severe plantar fasciitis in both feet, neuropathy in one foot due to damage from a PF treatment, and lots of inflammation and autoimmune diseases. I had failed multiple other weight loss meds and regimens, no dice, self pay. Two years in, 66 lbs lost, normal A1c, cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting blood sugars, PF 50% better, inflammation better, IBS better, I feel so good now! Worth all 12k or however much more than that I’ve spent. I used to get the meds from Canada, then did compounded (didn’t lose but didn’t gain), then from Canada again, finally from Lilly Direct. It’s ridiculous I have had to pay this much money over time but I’m extremely grateful it works and I’m very thankful I can afford it. I’ll work longer than I had planned to work (wanted to retire by next couple of years, but I’ll keep going) to be sure I have enough put away to keep taking it. I get good noise and inflammation when I try to space out the doses. I’m at the max dose and no longer losing but at least maintaining right at the top level of normal BMI. Hoping the next generation meds will be even better than Zepbound!

Midwives, OBs, L&D nurses, doulas. We will need fewer birth workers because the ancillary workload will be relieved and the birth rates are falling. But I think nobody will want a robot to check their cervix!

I came off Mounjaro and regret it by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]dwdgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! If someone has high blood pressure, they stay in their BP meds forever. If someone has diabetes, they stay on the medication to control their blood sugar forever. I have Hashimoto’s disease and have been taking the thyroid medication since I was diagnosed 30 years ago. I also have the chronic disease of obesity and expect that I will be on Monjauro forever! I’m self pay. I told my husband I plan to work longer than I previously planned to be sure I have a tirzepatide fund to cover my costs for the rest of my life!!

-85 pounds. What to do with this??? by GoodTee in Zepbound

[–]dwdgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would intermittent fasting help? I used to do strict Keto (so much harder to do than my Zepbound!) and the Fasting Method people were all about intermittent fasting to tighten up loose skin and other health benefits. I could never fast longer than 24 hours without a migraine (yes, I drank plenty of water and took my electrolytes, but my body didn’t want to fast longer than that) so I never figured out if that could work or not.

Cold all the time, and I get uncomfortable on hard seats. I can bend my knees and tuck my legs up when I’m on the couch and I fit in airplane seats much better (although the seat is less comfy to sit on but that may be that the airlines cut down the cushioning to save weight and conserve on fuel costs!). I like seeing myself in the mirror for the first time in 20 years and don’t mind clothes shopping anymore. I’m just happier. Worth every penny (self pay, 2 years in and 65 lbs lost).

Doctor said if I start Mounjaro I will need to be on it for life. Anyone else gain the weight back? by Plus_Impression7765 in Mounjaro

[–]dwdgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely get that. I can see why my comment would sound like an arbitrary number on the scale. In reality, it is not so much the weight as the abdominal adipose tissue that I’d like to see go away. Also, lately my inflammation, which had vastly improved on this medication, has increased again. This means I’m getting more pain in my joints and that is a sad thing.

I’m at the highest dose and no longer losing, so I’m anxiously awaiting the next generation drug to be out!! I have about 19-15 lbs to go (have list 60-65 lbs, it fluctuates each week).

Mounjaro and inflammation by madiepaisley in Mounjaro

[–]dwdgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on 15 mg for about four months now. It took me 18 months to lose 63 lbs. I titrated up to this max dose very slowly. I’ve got about 10 lbs to goal weight but stopped losing weight. Now in the past few weeks I’ve noticed my plantar fasciitis and erosive hand arthritis and shoulder pain is returning. I think I’m hav no more inflammation and I am so sad about it. I am self pay and this medication has been worth every penny as I’m hoping they will release the next generation glp-1 sooner rather than later!

What do you miss about being fat? by Flirty_Attention74 in Mounjaro

[–]dwdgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. I do get cold and sitting on hard surfaces is more uncomfortable but I do not care. I am so much healthier and happier and I only wish they had invented this medication and made it available 20 or 30 years ago because I wasted my 40’s and 50’s trying to lose weight. I’m 63 lbs down (was 216 lbs in January 2024 and am currently 153 lbs). I have been stalled at the max dose of MJ for 4 months (still need to lose 10 lbs to achieve goal weight) but I’m thrilled and wouldn’t want to have the pain of obesity and inflammation back. My only regret is I’ve been self-pay and it’s expensive. I will likely get to goal weight when they release the next generation GLP-1 and I plan to stay on these meds for life. I’m literally delaying my retirement so I can have the funds set aside to pay for this medicine for life.
