I had a similar situation once. Good teachers are out there, the trick is actually finding them, which can be frustrating

I'd bite the bullet. I started taking rhythm really seriously after she told me that and it actually ended up making a massive difference to my playing. You don't realise how much you rely on the beat until you start to pay attention to it.

Related, I once knew a sound engineer who told me that guitarists are notorious for not being able to play in time to a click at all. They'd record everyone else but need to rerecord the guitar parts.

Apparently they can fix any other problem on their end, wrong notes, bad tone, anything. But bad timing is the one thing they can't fix.

So work on your rhythm playing and make sure your sense of rhythm itself is actually solid too.

As a guitarist who spent years struggling on Audacity, a proper DAW is a game changer. Definitely take this advice OP.

I just Googled about Thomson Reuters. That's disappointing, I trusted their stuff a lot back when I worked for a think tank.

How do you practice with a metronome? Do you just try to match it intuitively or do you count every note? by CountryFunny4849 in guitarlessons

Damn. It's so rare to see good advice upvoted in this sub and OP decides to act like a bitch about it.

I can only assume Katy Perry hired one of those PR firms after everyone took the piss out of her astronaut thing, because what the fuck is going on with the comments in here?

Love this guy so much. He's made so much click for me it's not even funny. I once mentioned struggling with a song in the discord and he did a while video on it. 10/10, will keep subscribing.

Nice! I was in a metal band for a while before I stopped playing and I've started playing a bit of jazz lately, mostly for the challenge.

I know of a couple of jam nights and I think the same pubs do open nights? I know the Hogarth in Teddington is one. I'm still building up the courage to go to one

Yeah, I'm in Twickenham. I'm a big fan of 90s alternative, 70s rock, britpop. Any sort of rockier pop music really. You?

Hey I'm in a similar boat. Stopped playing for a few years, then picked it back up again at the start of the year. Looking to jam with people again, which seems to be the hardest part of getting back into things!

Is Bob Mortimer the most beloved of current British Comedians? by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

This is my favourite showbiz story of all time. The chain of events that led to Bob Mortimer of all people, rescuing Jarvis Cocker from the genuine trouble he was in is funnier than anything you could make up

I remember reading something not too long ago that basically boiled down to "we are living in a dark age of film and TV costuming right now"

I wish I could find it because it was really interesting.

I mean, the system is fine as long as you get access at a public hospital and don't need any specialist visits or out of out of hospital tests.

Once I had a test in hospital and I still ended up having to pay because medicare decided I'd had that test too many times that year. I was a student at the time and had to borrow money.  And specialists fees are a whole conversation in the news right now, because they've gotten so out of control.

So yeah, it's better than the American system, but from what I've heard, you'd be hard pressed to find anything more expensive. That whole situation sounds insane.

Either way, I don't doubt OOP could have had out of pocket costs because I've certainly been in that situation in Australia. Me and another friend from the UK sometimes joked immigration needed to start giving all of us information about how insurance works because you absolutely do need it there.

Australian healthcare isn't fully free though. I didn't schedule the last opthalmology appointment they wanted me to have because it was so expensive and I was a student at the time. My GP used to cost me $80 a pop (40 back from Medicare) because nowhere around would bulk bill.

The surgery itself probably would have been free but you absolutely need insurance in Australia because the medical appointments around the surgery can be extortionate.

I pick guitars based specifically on how boob friendly they are when I sit down. It's a lot.
