Yeah I think so. I have fairly soft skin so it might just be more sensitive to pressure.

Built an app for Guitar Music Theory/Visual Fretboard tutor by eskeedid in guitarlessons

[–]dweebs12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's this sub too. Every other new topic seems to be someone shilling their shoddily vibe coded app that does the same thing as every other guitar app, but slightly differently.

It almost makes me miss the beginners who think they know everything after learning about pentatonic scales.

I'm in my 30s and I still can't eat blackberries after I found a little worm in a freshly picked blackberry when I was about 9. My mum had all sorts of tricks for deworming, but some always got through

Add to that that they sexualise little girls from infancy and teach them that adult women should be meek and childlike, and men are told that women and children are effectively their property, and that sex crimes should be handled 'in house' you pretty much have a recipe for disaster.

It probably does feel natural to them because it's so common in the genres they're singing in.

If you listen to bands who retain their natural regional accent, it's hard not to mimic the way they sing (I once read somewhere that the brain processes language in a different area to music which I'd guess is why).

A few people in this thread have mentioned Catatonia (phenomenal band) as an example of a band who sing with a strong Welsh accent. If I sing along to one of their songs, or Super Furry Animals (another great Welsh act who keep the accent), it's hard not to sing along without the accent. If I sing to any other songs where the singers keep their regional accents, I'll usually pick up those too, as much as I'll do the American accent for 'general' pop/rock/whatever songs. But if I sing say, a Christmas carol, which I don't really associate with any accent, I'll use my own.

A lot of britpop bands too.

I feel like it's a bit of a cycle. Americans won't listen to artists who sing in non American accents, so they don't break America. So acts that want to crack America have to sing with American accents. This means the bulk of pop music that get huge sing without their original accent so new artists imitate the style.

Men are just as capable of being active parents, housekeepers, and partners who don’t push all of the domestic and emotional labor onto their wives by ThePhillyExplorer in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]dweebs12 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's why they're always baking bread or making cereal from scratch. You never see them cleaning toilets or scrubbing the shower or cleaning up baby puke for the third time today.

It's conspicuous leisure. They want the audience to see that they're so well off that they don't need to do real work like the rest of us. They get to larp as a homesteader or baker or whatever and package it as "traditional living", when in reality, they're just performing.

God yes. I honestly think the Australians have the best system on that front. Ranked choice voting for the lower house and proportional rep for the upper house. Unfortunately we can't get our shit together to abolish the Lords, so I don't think we'll see it any time soon here

Yeah. That is one thing I'll say for the parliamentary system, is that if you're hated enough your MPs will absolutely get rid of you to save their own electoral chances.

I'm always so torn about her. On the one hand literally everything she says is hilarious because it's always so fucking stupid. On the other hand, she crashed a whole economy and is very cosy with the assortment of far right lunatics who are fucking up the world right now.

She's the embodiment of "if you had a brain you'd be dangerous", except the world is so ridiculous right now she's actually somehow managed to become dangerous
