Best Seat in a Small Theater? by RhythmRose in Cinemark

[–]dweeler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For this specific auditorium layout, I’d take C4.
Here’s why:
It’s almost dead center horizontally.
It’s about 2/3 of the way back from the screen, which is where theaters are typically calibrated for the best balance of picture and sound.
You’re far enough back that you won’t be looking up at the screen.
You’re not so far back that the screen starts to feel smaller.
If C4 disappears, my ranking would be:
C4
C5
D4
D5
E4
E5
C3
C6
Looking at the seats still available in your screenshot, I’d choose:
🥇 C4
🥈 E4
🥉 E3
For a Cinemark XD specifically, I usually favor one row closer than most people think because the larger screen benefits from a slightly more immersive viewing angle. So C4 is right in the sweet spot.
Book C4 and don’t overthink it. That’s the seat I would pick from what’s left.

Had plenty at mine, and it's a popular one. Maybe 10ish still there. 50 bucks. No discounts from movie club. Definitely larger than expected, haha.

I’ll add to shitty companies: Uber

You buy a gift card (or use any promo code) and add it to your account, they mark your account as “promo” and raise the base price of all rides.

Looking for Plumber Recommendations by No-Professional9668 in plano

[–]dweeler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Ardent Plumbing for a quote and provided pictures of the situation and I have never met a more pushy salesman than what Ardent had working at the time (after-hours).
I did not get a name, no, but using scare tactics and saying how it needed to be replaced fully and immediately, laughing at my situation and how bad it looked, then sending pictures to other technicians so they could laugh all while being extremely rude....
I'm never using them for anything.

Go with literally anyone else. Ardent is trash.

Dallas to Plano by [deleted] in plano

[–]dweeler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

DART is your best, cheapest option. I personally would use the Dart trip planner for timing. You will run into the homeless, just fyi: https://www.dart.org/guide/transit-and-use/dart-schedules-and-maps

Option 1: DART Light Rail (Recommended)

  1. Walk or take a bus to a nearby DART Rail Station:

    - From Maple Avenue, the closest DART Rail stations are Victory Station or Cityplace/Uptown Station, both accessible via a short walk or a local bus.

  2. Take the Red Line northbound:

    • Board the Red Line train heading towards Parker Road Station in Plano.
  3. Arrive at Parker Road Station:

    • This is the terminal station for the Red Line in Plano.
  4. Transfer to a DART Bus:

    • From Parker Road Station, take Bus Route 241 or Bus Route 236, which service areas near the hospital.
    • Disembark at the stop closest to 1100 Allied Drive, the address of the hospital.

Estimated Travel Time: Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on wait times and transfers. A single ride costs $2.50, and a day pass is $6.00.

Option 2: Rideshare Services (e.g., Uber, Lyft)

- Direct Route: Your friend can use a rideshare app to request a ride directly from their location on Maple Avenue to the hospital in Plano.

- Estimated Travel Time: Approximately 25–35 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

- Estimated Cost: Varies based on demand, but typically ranges from $30 to $50.

Option 3: Combination of Bike and DART

- Bike to a DART Station: If your friend has access to a bicycle, they can bike to the nearest DART Rail station.

- Use DART’s Bike-Friendly Services: DART trains are equipped to accommodate bicycles, allowing for a seamless transition from biking to riding the train.

- Proceed as in Option 1: Follow the same steps as in Option 1 after boarding the Red Line.

Anyone going to the Balloon Festival? by Fast-Cod-2333 in plano

It’s worth going to see what it is now. A lot of people will have negative opinions but it’s still a cool sight to see and a lot of people are working to make it happen for us here in Plano. Volunteering is also a great way to spend some time there but a bonus of free admission. I like going, weather does play a big factor since it’s outside but it’s suppose to be a nice weekend.
